Senior Technical Writer
We are seeking a Senior Technical Writer with advanced expertise in technical writing to serve as the Senior Technical Writer for the Airspace and Surface Radar Reconnaissance (ASRR) system. The Senior Technical Writer will be responsible for creating, maintaining, and coordinating comprehensive technical documentation across all ASRR program areas including engineering specifications, operational procedures, maintenance manuals, and contract deliverables. The ideal candidate will work closely with the U.S. Army, foreign military clients, and internal engineering teams to ensure high-quality technical documentation supports ISR systems integration, testing, and operations. Responsibilities
Comprehensive Technical Documentation Development: Create and maintain detailed technical documentation across all ASRR program areas including system specifications, architecture documents, interface control documents, and operational procedures Develop comprehensive technical manuals, user guides, installation procedures, and maintenance documentation for all ASRR subsystems including aerostat platform, ISR sensors, ELINT systems, and ground control elements Generate engineering documentation including test plans, test procedures, integration procedures, and technical analysis reports Coordinate technical writing activities across multiple engineering disciplines and ensure consistency in documentation standards Contract Deliverable Management: Develop and manage technical contract data requirements deliverables ensuring compliance with customer requirements and delivery schedules Create formal technical reports, analysis documents, and compliance verification documentation Coordinate with engineering teams to gather technical information and translate complex technical concepts into clear, accurate documentation Ensure all technical documentation meets military standards (MIL-STD, MIL-PRF) and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) requirements Standards Compliance and Quality Assurance: Implement and maintain technical writing standards and style guides to ensure consistency across all program documentation Conduct quality assurance reviews of technical documentation including accuracy verification, completeness assessment, and compliance checking Coordinate documentation reviews with engineering teams, subject matter experts, and customer representatives Maintain document configuration control and version management for all technical writing deliverables Engineering Support and Collaboration: Support system-level testing and verification efforts by documenting procedures, results, and lessons learned Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams including software, hardware, and integration specialists to ensure comprehensive documentation coverage Participate in technical reviews and meetings to gather information and ensure documentation accuracy Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to technical documentation accuracy, completeness, and compliance requirements Documentation Coordination and Management: Coordinate technical writing activities with multiple contractors and ensure interface documentation compatibility Facilitate research and data collection processes to gather information supporting technical documentation development Manage documentation production schedules and identify potential bottlenecks or resource constraints Coordinate with customer representatives to address documentation feedback and implement required changes System Development and Field Support: Contribute to creation of system specifications, architecture, and requirements documentation for ISR systems ensuring solutions meet operational needs Provide technical documentation support during deployment, fielding, and operational use of ISR systems Create field-ready documentation including quick reference guides, troubleshooting procedures, and operational checklists Support international deployments by creating documentation that addresses cultural and operational differences Customer Interface and Technical Communication: Serve as technical point of contact for documentation-related matters with U.S. Army personnel and foreign military clients Present documentation strategies and progress reports to program management and customer representatives Coordinate with foreign military personnel to ensure technical documentation meets international requirements and operational needs Participate in risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for documentation-related program risks Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in Communications, Systems Engineering, or related STEM field Experience: Minimum 4-7 years of experience in technical writing with focus on complex military or aerospace systems Experience with ISR technologies such as EO/IR, radar, SIGINT, or similar sensor systems Demonstrated experience creating comprehensive technical documentation for systems engineering programs Proven track record managing multiple technical writing projects and coordinating with engineering teams SECRET or higher security clearance Preferred Qualifications
Advanced computer skills including proficiency with documentation tools such as Windchill, content management systems, and collaborative platforms Ability to quickly learn new engineering software tools and technical systems Must be eligible for U.S. government security clearance (Secret minimum) or possess current clearance Prior experience working with Foreign Military Sales (FMS) contracts and international military operations highly desirable Ability to work effectively in dynamic, fast-paced, and multinational environment Experience with field operations and ability to document operational procedures in real-world environments preferred Company EEO Statement
