Maintenance Consultant

This position serves as a consultant to the Maintenance Group Commander/Director of Maintenance. Responsibilities include: Developing, interpreting, and providing program guidance to the Wing regarding maintenance policies, procedures, budget, training criteria, and manpower/personnel. Interpreting command aircraft assignment configuration and reporting policy and informing appropriate Wing personnel of requirements and providing sufficient follow-up to ensure compliance. Providing oversight to the budget process, including planning, programming, budgeting, allocation, and funds execution. Leading aircraft maintenance support for operational, exercise, or contingency operations. Evaluating and controlling the Group and subordinate unit training program to ensure combat readiness for unit members and tracking progress via automated training records system and other tools. Directing aircraft maintenance analysis activities for the Maintenance Group. Reviewing and interpreting aircraft maintenance analysis information to implement programs that positively affect the future health of the aircraft fleet. Representing the Maintenance Operations branch, participating in discussions, meetings, and/or serving on panels or committees concerning maintenance policies and procedures. Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships within the wing, local organizations, other units, NGB and Major Commands. Planning and scheduling work in a manner that promotes a smooth flow and even distribution. Coordinating plans and schedules with other organization managers and customers as appropriate. Identifying need for changes in priorities and taking action to implement such changes. Requirements include: National Guard membership is required. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the ND National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service. Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation. May be required to successfully complete a probationary period. Participation in direct deposition is mandatory. You must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance. This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours; comp time may be required. May require travel in military and/or commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments. The work may require the incumbent to drive a motor vehicle; if so, and an appropriate valid driver's license is mandatory. Qualifications include: Permanent Change of Station costs will not be paid for this position. Areas of consideration include all onboard NDNG-Air Federal Employees, all onboard NDNG-Air Federal Employee, all NDNG military members, all military members, and all U.S. citizens. Maximum military grades are O-4 with compatible military assignments 21AX. Quality of experience is based on duties performed rather than rank, and established compatibility criteria/assignments must be followed. Resumes must contain your own words, and must address general and specialized experience listed below: General experience: Experience, education, or training that provided an understanding of the terminology and data pertaining to repair operations and the processes of production activity. Specialized experience: One year specialized experience equivalent to the GS 09 grade level which provided: Familiarity with computations of cost data on labor and materials, buying materials or reviewing data with respect to man-hours, machine time, materials consumed, etc. Work experience with automation support programs including inputting data, providing status of equipment and repair parts, requisitioning, and monitoring job order. Experience leading, directing, and assigning work to production personnel. Education must be supported by documentation of proof that you meet the education requirements for this position.
