Provides consecutive and/or simultaneous language interpretation for limited English proficient (LEP) patients and families whose primary language is not English, as it relates to medical care. Provides sight-translation of relevant materials to enhance patients' and families' comprehension of medical procedures, treatment, discharge instructions, patient and family education, and follow-up care within the interpretation encounter. Is also responsible for the written translation of hospital documents such as medical record forms and patient education materials from English into target language as assigned by supervisor. SHIFTS AVAILABLE THROUGHOUT THE SYSTEM Atlanta Campus: Full Time Weekdays: 7:00AM-3:30PM or 8:00AM-4:30PM Full Time Weekends: 7:00AM-7:00PM (3 12-hour shifts) Cherokee Campus: Full Time: 8-hour shifts, schedule varies and may include some weekends Resource: Weekend coverage (Saturday & Sunday), 8:00AM-4:30PM Duluth Campus: Full Time Weekday Evenings: 2:30PM-11:00PM Gwinnett Campus: Full Time Weekdays: 8:00AM-4:30PM Part Time Weekends: Saturday & Sunday Day Shift: 8:00AM-4:30PM or Evening Shift: 2:30PM-11:00PM Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED High school diploma, equivalent education (GED), OR post-secondary education. Two (2) years of experience in a healthcare, medical setting, customer service, advocacy, or related field, one of which must have been dedicated to medical interpretation. Certificate from a Medical Interpretation Program provided by a College, University, ALTA Language Services, Bridging the Gap, or Language Line Academy confirming successful completion of forty (40) to sixty (60) hours of Medical Interpreter Training OR Certification as a Certified Medical Interpreter (CMI) through the National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters (NBCMI), or Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters (CCHI). Successful completion of the Interpreter Skills Test (IST) with passing score as administered by Northside Hospital to verify demonstration of the advanced skills necessary for Medical Interpretation. Work Hours:
7am-4pm, 11am-7:30pm, 7:30am-4pm, 2:30pm-11pm, 8am-4:30pm Weekend Requirements:
