The Department of Design in the College of Arts and Sciences is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Student Office Assistant to support front office operations. This position serves as the first point of contact for faculty, staff, students, and visitors, and plays a vital role in maintaining a welcoming and efficient office environment. Key Responsibilities:

Front Desk & Administrative Support Serve as front desk receptionist: greet visitors, answer phones, and respond to inquiries Monitor and respond to the department email account Distribute mail and packages Reserve meeting rooms and student lockers Assist with data entry, scanning, filing, and other clerical tasks Create and post departmental signage Conduct basic research or assist with special projects as needed Facility & Operations Support Stock and monitor printer supplies Maintain clean and organized public spaces: wipe down desks, tables, and computer stations Clean and organize supply closets and storage rooms Move furniture as needed to correct locations Add or remove signage on public bulletin boards Maintain sign-out logs for equipment, parking passes, and keys End-of-Day Classroom Closing Duties Pull trash cans into the hallway for custodial pick-up Close classroom windows and doors Reset tables and chairs to standard layout Retract power cords and turn off lights Erase and clean whiteboards Other Duties Additional tasks may be assigned to support departmental needs Qualifications: Strong communication and customer service skills Excellent organizational abilities and attention to detail Ability to work independently and follow instructions Professional demeanor and a positive, helpful attitude Reliability and punctuality are essential Responsibilities are basic and routine in nature. This may include performing administrative duties in an office, assisting in a research laboratory, aid faculty/staff in supporting academic programs or patient care. Duties will be clear and direct. The Student Assistant will require excellent customer service and strong organizational skills and will represent the department and the university with the highest degree of integrity applying OSU mission and shared values.
