Product Management Specialist

This position works in the Product Management team but also works closely with Product Design Engineering, Applications Engineering, and Purchasing teams to establish complete and thorough product specifications and product use resources including how to videos, SRPs, Power Point presentations, and similar. These product specifications are necessary and vital for ensuring vendors build and or assemble products to meet every detail of the specification, which meet or exceed customer expectations for quality, aesthetics, functionality, ease of use, and efficiency. The product resources are vital to various internal/external teams including sales teams and ultimately the end user for full understanding of product features and how to use properly. General Functions/Specific Responsibilities: Assist Product Development Engineering, Product Management, and Applications Engineering teams in both new and current product design and/or improvement. Create detailed/thorough and complete product specifications that will be used by vendors (internal and external) to manufacture, build, and assemble finished product. This includes the assembling of fiber optic cables and connectors integrated with various wall and rack mount enclosures. As such, specifications will include details/requirements of fiber optic performance and proper routing and securing of fiber optic components. Create product resources including how-to videos, SRPs, and custom requests/needs to be used for internal training, sales team promotion of product, and end-user understanding of product and how to properly use. Meet with vendors alone or along side Purchasing and Product Management staff to review new product specifications or significant changes to product specifications to ensure finished products are in compliance. Create detailed and complete packaging specifications to ensure protection of product during storage and transit to customers, easy and obvious access to all packed components, and balancing packaging quality, durability, product access, and packaging cost. Manage database of product specification documents for easy and intuitive access as well as ensuring users (internal/external) are working from the correct and most up to date version. Manage archive database of previous product specification versions. Requirements for Position: Complete 4-year degree (in Engineering Field preferred) 1+ years experience preparing product specifications including requirements for fiber optic components Excellent interpersonal, communications, writing, and computer skills required. 1+ years creating product resources including how-to videos, SRPs, Power Point presentations, etc.
