Assistant/Associate/Full Teaching Professor of Mechanical Engineering

The Department of Mechanical Engineering, in the College of Engineering at Iowa State University (ISU), invites applications for the position of a full-time (nine-month) non-tenure eligible teaching faculty at the rank of assistant, associate or full professor, commensurate with the teaching and/or industrial experience, proficiency and leadership. Successful candidates will be expected to teach courses in mechanical engineering topics, carry out effective instruction in undergraduate mechanical engineering courses, including lecture and laboratory courses based on department needs, freshman courses, curriculum coordination, and other responsibilities related to the teaching mission of the university, such as committee work or mentoring of undergraduate students. Experience with mechanical design, measurements and dynamics of mechanical systems are of particular interest. This position is set to begin spring semester January 15, 2026, with the possibility of starting summer semester May 2026 or fall semester August 2026. This position will be hired as a 1 to 3-year term with the possibility of renewal based on experience and rank of hire. Required Minimum Qualifications:

Assistant Teaching Professor: Bachelor's degree in engineering or related discipline and 5 years of relevant work experience. OR Master's degree in engineering or related discipline and 3 years of relevant work experience. OR Doctoral degree in Engineering or related discipline. Associate Teaching Professor: Record of teaching experience AND one of the following: Bachelor's degree in engineering or related discipline and 10 years of relevant work experience. OR Master's degree in engineering or related discipline and 8 years of relevant work experience. Teaching Professor: Record of teaching experience AND one of the following: Bachelor's degree in engineering or related discipline and 15 years of relevant work experience. OR Master's degree in engineering or related discipline and 13 years of relevant work experience. OR Doctoral degree in engineering or related discipline and 10 years of relevant work experience. Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with mechanical design, measurements and dynamics or mechanical systems. Experience teaching mechanical engineering or engineering courses at the university level. About Iowa State University and the Ames Community
