SUMMARYThese positions serves as the commercial representation to the operations and manufacturing team. Planning and Production Coordinators requests melts and plans steps for finish jobs. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS•Responsible for planning production of customer orders to ensure customer satisfaction and maximize SMC revenue.•Responsible for efficient response to inquiries. This includes product capability, pricing, realistic lead times and resolving technical questions associated with inquires. •Accurately plans and schedules all orders, tailoring the customer's order requirements to fit applicable specifications and mill constraints. •Request starting material for order. Allocate to order and check to see that material meets order requirements as to chemistry and yield and is started in time to meet customer's delivery requirements. •Creates and submits requisitions for outwork processing. •Coordinates trucking as required for outwork processing.•Schedules intermediate stock orders to coincide with order planning, WIP, cycle time and delivery objectives. •Review intermediate/stock material and determine optimum utilization of material to fulfill customer requirements and minimize material waste.•Orders stock or intermediate materials for production/completion of customer purchase orders.•Offer non-conforming material and quantities to the customer, coordinating quality assurance with the customer and documenting changes. •Reviews changes to open orders and order cancellations for effect on pricing, and advises the appropriate divisions, circuits, departments, etc.•Maintains order file and other specialized records for individual customer or programs as necessary.•Completes shipping information and delivery date input during sales order reviews and planning.•Coordinates product availability and deliveries with the appropriate Company personnel and the customer.•Releases production orders (WIP jobs) to the operations team for either production or finished goods in inventory.•Responsible for enhancing Company relations through meeting with customers and distributor representatives. •Interface with manufacturing personnel, purchasing departments, shipping supervisors, and the commercial group on material status and production planning issues.•Interface with outside service providers ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES•Accomplishes all tasks as appropriate.QUALIFICATIONSEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE•College degree preferred - business or system analyst.•3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing role.•Works under limited supervision.•Customer service experience, a plus.•Experience in gathering information and data.
