As a principal architect at NextEra Energy, you will play a critical role in driving the strategic direction of our IT architecture. You will be responsible for conducting architecture reviews, creating and enforcing technology standards, and ensuring our IT solutions align with business goals and organizational considerations. Additionally, you may step in as a solution architect when project teams lack sufficient expertise. We are looking for a seasoned architect with deep expertise in technology, business architecture, and organizational processes to join our dynamic team. Key responsibilities include: Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of enterprise architecture (EA) models to ensure the alignment of IT strategy and planning with company business goals. Conduct thorough architecture reviews for new and existing solutions to ensure compliance with industry best practices and company standards. Collaborate with business stakeholders, IT leaders, and project teams to understand business requirements and translate them into robust architectural designs. Develop, document, and enforce technology standards and guidelines that promote efficient, secure, and scalable IT solutions. Evaluate and recommend new technologies, tools, and processes to enhance the company's IT capabilities. Provide guidance and mentorship to other architects and technical teams, fostering best practices and continuous improvement, and in some cases, playing the role of solution architect to assist delivery teams with solutions. Drive enterprise application portfolio management goals to reduce TCO and complexity through reuse and rationalization. Work closely with security teams to ensure that architectural solutions meet or exceed security requirements and industry regulations. Create and maintain architectural documentation, including diagrams, design patterns, and technical specifications. Serve as a subject matter expert in the areas of enterprise architecture, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, microservices, integration, and emerging technologies. Foster a culture of innovation and collaboration, driving the adoption of modern architecture practices and principles. Offer strategic input to leadership on technology trends and their potential impact on the organization's technology landscape. Preferred qualifications include: Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field is required. A master's degree is preferred. A minimum of 10 years of experience in IT architecture, with at least 5 years in a leadership or principal architect role. Proven track record of successfully leading architecture initiatives in large, complex organizations. Strong understanding of enterprise architecture frameworks such as TOGAF, Zachman, or similar methodologies. Experience with application portfolio management considerations and use of tooling (e.g., ServiceNow) to manage and digitize. In-depth knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), microservices architecture, and integration patterns. Experience with modern application development practices, including DevOps, CI/CD, and agile methodologies. Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and execute tactically. Certifications such as TOGAF, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or similar are highly desirable. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities concurrently.
