Transportation Technician II - Drainage System Operations
The Drainage Systems Operations group is looking for a highly motivated individual who is willing and able to clean and repair the City's growing drainage infrastructure. The Transportation Technician II is empowered to operate many different pieces of equipment to clean and clear varying types of drainage facilities which include: underground pipes and culverts; open channels; scuppers; catch basins; and natural creeks and riverbeds. This position will also participate in the planning, coordination, and inspection of contract work in support of the operation's diverse responsibilities. The successful candidate will hold a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a tanker endorsement or be able to obtain this classification within six months of hire. The ideal candidate for this position will have: A great attitude and work ethic A willingness to learn The fortitude to push through tough working environments such as extreme heat and torrential downpours Minimum Requirements Education: High school graduation or equivalency Experience: 1-2 years' experience. Moderate previous experience required in the same or similar previous positions (1-2 years of flood control or vacuum/rodder truck operation) Physical Demands: Work requires heavy physical exertion and effort. Forces exerted are equivalent to lifting between 25 and 50 pounds Licenses and Certifications: Class "A" CDL (Commercial Driver's License) with tankers endorsement is required within six months of hire.
