Staff Nurse Opportunity
The University of Iowa Health Care Department of Nursing is seeking a Staff Nurse to perform specific tasks to assist members of the Nursing team in providing patient care under the direct supervision of the Nurse Manager. Characteristic duties of our Staff Nurse include but are not limited to: Applying nursing theory to the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of patient responses to health and illness Assessing patient health care preferences and expectations Collaboratively coordinating the continuum of care across settings Developing patient care plan based on patient condition, age, and psychological, educational, and socioeconomic conditions that prescribes interventions to attain expected outcomes Implementing patient care plan according to patient priorities, which includes interventions identified through nursing diagnoses. Documents/reports interventions and patient/family response Collaborating and integrating contributions of patients and families into multidisciplinary patient care plan Developing, coordinating and implementing transfer/discharge planning throughout episode of care Implementing nursing interventions according to department, division, and/or unit policies, procedures, and protocols to maintain safe environment for patients, visitors and staff. Follows universal precautions Imaging and Procedure Center- (UI Stead Family Children's Hospital, Lower Level 2)
This unit's innovative design combines imaging, sedation, procedures, and recovery in one place. It has Iowa's first SOMATOM Drive computerized tomography system. One of only four in the world, the scanner provides lower dose radiation and faster studies, that allow for shorter sedation time. The unit includes six large procedure rooms with 15 private prep and recovery rooms. Procedures include endoscopies, colonoscopies, urology procedures, dental procedures, lumbar punctures, and renal, liver, and bone marrow biopsies. All procedures are performed under sedation or general anesthesia. Percent of Time: 60-100% Schedule:
24-40 hours per week, Monday - Friday 8 and 10 hour shifts between 0630-1800.

here Education Required: An Associate's Degree in Nursing, a Diploma in Nursing, a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, Professional Masters of Nursing and Healthcare Practice (MNHP), MSN/Clinical Nurse Leader or a Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN, MA) is required Experience Required: Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills with patients/families, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members as demonstrated through written and verbal interactions General computer skills are required PALS certification or obtained within 9 months of hire Current license to practice nursing in Iowa is required by date of hire Desirable Qualifications: Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing or Masters Degree in Nursing is highly desired If Baccalaureate degree in Nursing is not yet obtained, active enrollment in a BSN program is desirable Recent 1 year of experience in post-anesthesia (PACU) or Pediatric Intensive Care (PICU) Skilled in IV access Delivery of high risk medication 2 years of recent pediatric experience In order to be considered, applicants must upload resume (under submission relevant materials) that clearly address how they meet the listed required and desired qualifications of this position.
