Concrete Form Setter

A Concrete Form Setter is a crucial member of the road construction team, employee will be responsible for building and shaping the forms that hold concrete in place. This role requires a strong work ethic, physical fitness, and attention to detail. Concrete Form Setters must understand blueprints and schematics to set up forms that shape concrete into the desired structure. Employee will be working from plans to build, assemble and align forms to mold concrete structures. Employee will perform many tasks that require physical labor on construction sites in all types of weather conditions. Will work by smoothing and finish surfaces of poured concrete such as roads, sidewalks, walls, footings, or curbs using a variety of hand and power tools and equipment. Along with other assignments employee will construct, erect, install, and repair forms and fixtures of wood or plywood using carpenter's hand tools and power tools. Hand and power tools will be of all types, including but not limited to: air hammers, earth tampers, cement mixers, concrete saws, surveying and measuring equipment, small equipment, and skid steer loaders. In addition, this position may be required to clean and prepare job sites, dig trenches, set braces to support form work, erect scaffolding, clean up rubble and debris, and tear out concrete. Job Responsibilities

Construct and create forms to lay out and mark concrete according to blueprints and specifications. Install and secure forms for pouring concrete using hand tools and power tools. Observe concrete pours and review forms. Cut, shape, and fit materials to form walls, columns, and other structures. Assemble and fasten materials to make framework or props, using hand tools and wood screws, nails, dowel pins, or glue. Insert steel reinforcement and embedded items, such as anchor bolts and conduits, prior to pouring concrete. Review forms by tying rebar, pouring concrete, finishing concrete, using sting line for line and level. Use levels and transit levels to ensure that forms are level and straight. Clean and maintain forms and tools, and apply release agents to prevent concrete from sticking to forms. Chip, scrape, and grind high spots, ridges, and rough projections to finish concrete, using pneumatic chisels, power grinders, or hand tools. Clean chipped area, using wire brush, and feel and observe surface to determine if it is rough or uneven. Mix cement, concrete, mortar and various patching compounds. Install all types of joints, i.e. expansion, construction & contraction. Set the forms that hold concrete to the desired pitch and depth and align them. Load and unload trucks and haul and hoist materials. Report any mechanical problems encountered with vehicles and/or equipment and immediately notify supervisor. Install pre-cast concrete elements; prepare for slip forming traffic rails and median barriers. Install permanent metal deck forms. Remove forms and clean and prepare concrete surfaces for finishing. Communicate with other construction team members to ensure that concrete form work aligns with project schedules and timelines. Signal truck driver to position truck to facilitate pouring concrete and move chute to direct concrete on forms. Operate power vibrator to consolidate concrete. Follow safety procedures and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries on the job site. Observe all company, road and customer policies and safety requirements. All other duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements

Some knowledge of road construction concrete finishing and concrete labor. Basic knowledge of tools and safety equipment. Must have the ability to read, write and understand safety regulations applicable to our industry codes and standards. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, measure and cut lumber for forms, and operate hand tools and power tools safely. Must be ablet to lift 50lb. Will be required to use fall protection and work in heights. Must be able to work flexible schedules, including nights and weekends ,as required by operation. Must have a Valid Texas Driver License. Able to successfully complete all required pre hire tests and verifications, which may include pre employment drug testing, reference & criminal background checks and MVR review. Must be willing to travel to different job sites/ locations and work long hours in various weather conditions. Additional Information

The employee assumes responsibility and is presumed to know the routine work details and performance standards of the job and to perform assigned tasks with direct supervision. Employee may be subject to long hours, weekend and holiday work. Work requires the direction and guidance of lead man, foreman, supervisor and helpers. Physical Demands

Constantly operates vehicle. Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions (heat, cold, rain). Ability to wear personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toe boots) at all times. Ability to lift heavy objects (in excess of 50 pounds) and perform repetitive tasks involving arms, hands, and fingers. Constantly works in the field, environment in high movement. Exerting up to 50-100 lbs. occasionally, 25-50 lbs. frequently, or negligible amounts constantly OR requires walking or standing to a significant degree. Occasionally, ascend/ descends a ladder to function/ process daily tasks. Work Environment: Work is primarily outdoors on construction sites. Salary Range
