The City of Sierra Vista is offering a part-time position at $14.70 hourly in Sierra Vista, AZ. This role is within the Parks & Recreation Department and is open continuously. This position is a drug-free workplace. The City of Sierra Vista requires all applicants to submit to a pre-employment drug test. A positive result for drugs, including recreational marijuana, may result in withdrawal of an offer of employment. Definition & Essential Functions
The Leader I works directly with adults with disabilities to provide safe leisure opportunities, supports participants during leisure activities, and reports to the Therapeutic Recreation Coordinator. Leaders are responsible for the smooth operation of the program, providing guidance to Recreation Aides, and maintaining open communication with participants and their families. Tasks
The Leader I is responsible for: Maintaining attendance and progress reports. Administering a general program of recreation at a recreation center or in the community. Stimulating interest in and directing a variety of competitive and noncompetitive recreation activities. Supervising and instructing Recreation Aides. Assisting the Therapeutic Recreation Coordinator in making recommendations for the community-wide recreation program. Assisting in developing teaching strategies. Knowledges, Skills & Other Characteristics
Knowledge of: Prevention and support. CPR/First Aid. Leadership techniques and methodology. Organizing groups of all sizes and leading them in recreational or leisure activities. Skills in: Working with others, programming, planning, and organizing recreational activities. Ability to: Address personal hygiene needs of participants. Take and follow directions from Recreation Coordinators and above. Assist in the implementation of teaching strategies and behavior treatment plans. Work with the general public and fellow employees. Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and must possess a valid driver's license.
