About The Role We are looking to add an Applications Programming Associate to our team of talented professionals. In this role, the Applications Programming Associate will: Identify, evaluate, and determine an authorization status and/or recommendation for new software applications/versions found on the customer network. Prepare a listing of new software applications to be reviewed with the Enterprise Architecture (EA) team to determine the best path for an authorization decision for each application and to note all information relevant to the decision-making process. Identify software found on the network that is not on the SSA Approved Software List and notify network users and users of software of the need to upgrade, uninstall, or submit an authorization request for the software. Work on developing applications from specifications drawn up by software developers or other individuals. Conduct trial runs of programs and software applications to be sure they will produce the desired information and that the instructions are correct. Perform or direct revisions, repairs, or expansion of existing programs to increase operating efficiency or adapt to new requirements. Create, modify, and test code, forms, and script that allow computer applications to run. Consult with managerial, engineering, and technical personnel to clarify program intent, identify problems, and suggest changes. Perform systems analysis and programming tasks to maintain and control the use of computer systems software as a systems programmer. May assist software developers by analyzing user needs and designing software solutions. May develop and write computer programs to store, locate, and retrieve specific documents, data, and information. Qualifications Basic Qualifications: 4 years with AS/AA, 2 years with BS/BA; 0 years with MS/MA; 6 years with no degree Ability to pass agency suitability investigation and background check for Public Trust Clearance Ability to write, update, and maintain computer programs or software packages to handle specific jobs such as tracking inventory, storing, or retrieving data, or controlling other equipment. Ability to write, analyze, review, and rewrite programs, using workflow chart and diagram, and applying knowledge of computer capabilities, subject matter, and symbolic logic. US Citizenship is required. Ability to obtain/maintain a Public Trust clearance. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with COBOL, CICS, VSAM, DB2, SQL and QMF, MVS/JCL and Utilities, File Aid, TSO/ISPF, SyncSort, Endeavor, Xpediter, Intertest, EZ-Trieve, JES2, CA7 and Control-M Scheduler, JIRA, HEAT, NDM, FTP, EDI, VPN, SharePoint, MS Visio, Word, Excel, Agile and SDLC project management. Target Salary Range: $80,000 - $128,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
