Team Management: Supervise and lead a team of toolmakers and technicians, providing training, mentorship, and support. Tool Design and Development: Oversee the design and development of tooling for various manufacturing processes such as stamping and CNC machining. Maintenance and Repair: Ensure that tools and dies are maintained, repaired, and adjusted to maintain optimal productivity and reduce downtime. Production Scheduling: Coordinate with production teams to schedule tooling requirements, ensuring tools and dies are available when needed and downtime is minimized. Quality Control: Monitor tooling to ensure it meets required specifications and quality standards; implement corrective actions when necessary. Inventory Management: Manage tooling inventory, including ordering materials, managing spare parts, and ensuring tools are available for use when needed. Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve quality. Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, production teams, and other departments to ensure tooling meets production needs and timelines. Safety: Ensure all tools and dies are used safely and that team members follow safety protocols at all times. Qualifications: Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, or a related field is preferred. Certifications in toolmaking, machining, or related fields may be advantageous (e.g., Journeyman Tool and Die certification). Experience: At least 5-7 years of experience in tool and die making or a related field, with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory or management role. Strong experience with CAD software, CNC machining, and die design. Knowledge of metalworking, machining processes, and materials. Knowledge of SAP. Skills: Strong leadership and team management skills. Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail. Strong understanding of tooling, machining, and manufacturing processes. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications. Familiarity with safety standards and regulations in a manufacturing environment. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Work Environment: The role typically operates in a manufacturing setting, requiring regular use of machinery, power tools, and computer systems. Safety equipment such as gloves, goggles, and steel-toe boots is required. Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, bend, or sit for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally. Additional Information: Overtime may be required based on production schedules. A proactive approach to safety and quality is essential.
