Senior Mortgage Banker
The Senior Mortgage Banker is responsible for underwriting residential and equity lines/loans ensuring compliance with appropriate company and secondary market investor standards, including Fannie / Freddie and additional investors (Wells, FHLB, BofA, etc.), ensuring loan requests meet program and product specifications, suggesting counteroffers to a different precut and / or program when appropriate, and communicating decision (approval, suspense, denial) to appropriate individuals and issuing proper documentation. Essential Functions include: Underwriting residential and equity lines/loans ensuring compliance with appropriate company and secondary market investor standards, including Fannie / Freddie and additional investors (Wells, FHLB, BofA, etc.) Underwriting Jumbo Loans Underwriting government loans including FHA / VA / RD / and CRA programs Examining loan documentation for accuracy and completeness Following the provisions of the Gramm-Bliley Act and the Bank's privacy policy; maintaining a high level of confidentiality Making timely and accurate decisions while thriving in a fast paced environment Ensuring appropriate pricing Checking accuracy of all calculations Underwriting and decisioning equity loans Underwriting and decisioning purchase and refinance loans Determining decision on pre-approval applications Determining decision on modification requests Communicating decision on loans to appropriate parties Confirming adverse decisions Partnering with Mortgage Bankers Identifying and resolving loan issues Recommending improvements to procedures Maximizing use of loan origination system Evaluating the entire credit package and collateral for residential mortgage loans Ensuring an "investment" quality loan product Additional Essential Functions include: Ensuring compliance with Northwest's policies and procedures, and Federal/State regulations Navigating Microsoft Office Software, computer applications, and software specific to the department in order to maximize technology tools and gain efficiency Working as part of a team Working with on-site equipment Additional Responsibilities include: Performing related duties as directed by manager Safety and Health for those without supervisory duties include: Abiding by the rules of the safety and loss prevention program Performing work tasks in a safe manner Reporting any and all injuries to supervisor Knowing what to do in case of an emergency Qualifications to perform this job successfully include: Education: Associate's Degree Work Experience: 5 - 6 years mortgage experience, 5 - 6 years experience underwriting loans and management experience General Employee Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to establish effective working relationships among team members and participate in solving problems and making decisions Ability to present and express ideas and information clearly and concisely in a manner appropriate to the audience, whether oral or written Ability to actively listen to what others are saying to achieve understanding, sharing information with others and facilitating the open exchange of ideas and information Ability to establish courses of action for self to accomplish specific goals, develop and use tracking systems for monitoring own work progress, and effectively use resources such as time and information Ability to make right decisions based on perceptive and analytical processes, practicing good judgment in gray areas Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of RESPA 2010, MDIA, Dodd Frank, HVCC regulations, Freddie / Fannie lending guidelines, and automated underwriting and guidelines Northwest is an equal opportunity employer.
