Geologist Or Earth Scientist Position
The Science Department at Great Basin College seeks a broadly trained Geologist or Earth Scientist for part-time work. Duties will include instruction of lower division courses in Geology (principally Physical and Historical), Physical Geography, and Environmental Science, and potentially an upper division course in Geological Resources. Qualifications: A minimum of a master's degree in Geology or Environmental Science. Industry experience strongly preferred. A student-centered teaching philosophy that encompasses design, delivery, and assessment is required. Commitment to the college mission is essential. A collaborative and customer service attitude is required. Experience using distance-delivery technologies preferred. Responsibilities: Duties will include instruction of lower division courses in Geology (principally Physical and Historical), Physical Geography, and Environmental Science. A familiarity with Economic Geology and mining in general is an asset in applying for this position. Perform all duties as required of all part-time GBC faculty to include course assessment. Work collaboratively with other members of the department and college in pursuing departmental and institutional goals. Salary and Benefits: Salary is the standard part-time instructor amount based on amount of credits taught. This is a non-benefits eligible position.
