Commercial Agronomy & Field Systems Lead

Ohalo is hiring a Commercial Agronomy & Seed Field Systems Lead to build and operationalize the field systems that make true potato seed successful at commercial scale. This is a hands-on, field-forward role focused on creating commercially viable agronomic systems and stewarding early adopter farmers from planting through harvest. You will own all field trial execution, regional adaptation work, and grower-facing enablement, and serve as the bridge between breeding, commercial, and seed technology teams. owning the design and validation of in-field protocols and leading commercial readiness on-farm. Responsibilities: Lead all commercial field and greenhouse testing activities across regions and use cases Design and manage strip trials, side-by-side demos, and system-level agronomic comparisons Develop data capture systems for emergence, vigor, fertility, harvest outcomes, etc. Engineer direct seeding systems: planter settings, soil prep, spacing, irrigation, nutrient timing Refine crop establishment protocols: seeding depth, seedbed prep, early vigor strategies Tailor fertility and crop protection programs for seedling-stage potatoes and other crops Translate technical field knowledge into farmer-facing guides and training decks Partner with the Commercial team to design ROI models, success stories, and positioning tools Serve as a trusted technical advisor to early adopter growers during planting and evaluation Collaborate with the Technical Seed Development Lead to share field performance feedback Coordinate with Breeding and Seed Production on hybrid release planning and region-specific adaptation Report field performance trends to guide internal product planning and iteration Qualifications: 5+ years in agronomy, field trials, or seed-based cropping system design Demonstrated success in building and scaling new agronomic protocols Deep knowledge of seeding systems, crop establishment, and large-scale field ops Strong experimental design and in-season trial management skills Effective communicator across growers, scientists, and commercial partners Direct-seeded crop experience preferred (e.g., potatoes, onions, leafy greens, carrots, strawberries) The anticipated pay range that we reasonably expect to pay for this role is $120,000 - $175,000 for San Francisco, CA. Individual compensation is based on various factors including experience, education, skillset, and other relevant qualifications. Ohalo aims to accelerate evolution to unlock nature's potential.
