The Enterprise Data Office (EDO) is part of the Enterprise Data Management Program (EDMP), a key component of our Technology organization. It focuses on delivering data products that fuel business growth and unlock value, while also shaping robust data management strategies and governance solutions. EDO delivers critical data-related initiatives that accelerate ongoing digital transformation at American Express, enhance the overall customer experience, strengthen our data strategy and practices, and drive our continued growth. American Express continues to invest in enterprise data management, and as part of the journey, we are seeking a Director to lead training and program integration. Key Responsibilities: Build and manage the data training strategy and plan for the Enterprise Data Office, designing a scalable and cohesive learning and development function that addresses skills gaps across Enterprise business and technology teams. Partner with business and technology leaders to ensure the right audiences are identified and enrolled in the data training program aligned to their roles and responsibilities and learning needs. Establish and own key training metrics and evaluation processes to measure effectiveness, track adoption, and ensure learners meet enterprise data standards and proficiency goals per regulatory requirements. Design and operationalize a long-term sustainment model for learning, enabling reinforcement, evolution, and preservation of foundational training while ensuring relevance for future audiences and enterprise priorities. Collaborate across EDO teams, Enterprise teams, and senior leadership to generate buy-in, align with broader organizational change management efforts, and integrate training efforts with enterprise initiatives, including communications, policy, and governance. Provide ongoing support to key data management forums (e.g., Enterprise Data Council), cascading key messages regarding the training program, ensuring accuracy of messages pertaining to training, and promoting the benefits of the EDO program and training as an enabler. Bring leading practices from previous experiences to continuously enhance and differentiate the EDO's training program (e.g., via innovative training modalities) while creating a positive experience for all involved trainers and learners. Minimum Requirements: 8 years of experience in a leadership role focused on learning and development and/or training strategy and planning. 6 years in program management for cross-functional initiatives in large (e.g., Fortune 500) organizations. Experience at large US and/or global financial institutions. Experience managing critical and time-sensitive deliverables. Bachelors Degree Preferred Qualifications: Detail oriented with a high degree of personal accountability; strong self-starter with an ability to autonomously multi-task and meet competing deadlines. Proven ability to lead, influence and motivate stakeholders within and outside of your direct authority to achieve aggressive goals. Proven experience building and leading diverse, geographically dispersed, high-performing teams; extensive experience and success as a leader of leaders. Excellent communication skills with a demonstrated ability to articulate complex concepts in a manner consumable by a broad stakeholder base, including a senior executive audience. Experience in an environment with ambiguity, using structure, influence, and prioritization to keep the work and team on track. Qualifications: Salary Range: $150,000.00 to $225,000.00 annually plus bonus, equity (if applicable) benefits.
