City of Detroit $73,933.00 - $75,412.00 Annually Coleman A Young Municipal Center, MI Certified-Regular Civil Service 202518738351DPWPA Dept of Public Works Transportation Planning 06/26/2025 2001-Detroit Building and Construction Trades Council Under the general supervision of the Master Electrician of Record, supervises a medium to large group of electrical workers, apprentices and others engaged in the installation, repair and maintenance of electrical equipment and wiring. Examples Of Duties
Supervises a group of electricians, apprentices and others engaged in commercial or industrial electrical work. Plans and organizes the work. Assigns workers and crews to jobs. Inspects work in progress and upon completion. Trains and instructs apprentices and others in electrical work theory and practice. Demonstrates and advises subordinates on difficult or unusual electrical repair and installation tasks. Diagnoses electrical equipment failures and power failures. Evaluates employee performance and initiates or recommends disciplinary actions. Prepares cost estimates for new electrical and repair work. Requests and otherwise ensures that proper tools and materials are available. Coordinates electrical work with other trades and operating personnel. Tests and inspects materials, supplies, and equipment. Maintains records and prepares reports on activities supervised. Ensures duties are performed in accordance with departmental and regulatory safety procedures and standards including the utilization of designated personal protective equipment. May perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications
Qualifications (required): High school graduation or GED and completion of a United States Department of Labor Registered Electrical Apprenticeship Program. Four (4) years of journey worker electrical experience installing electrical equipment and wiring including motors and controlling equipment, transformers, power switching equipment, lighting systems, and wiring. Two (2) years of experience in an electrical supervisory capacity. State of Michigan Electrical license. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be substituted to meet the education and experience requirements of this position. Supplemental Information
