City of Round Rock $16.00 - $17.25 Hourly Round Rock, TX Seasonal Description
Leads and supervises assigned age groups at designated camp facility. Plans, conducts, and leads activities while interacting, and maintaining safety and supervision of participants and group counselors in a recreation program environment. Work is performed under immediate supervision with exercise of judgment in accordance with established policies, procedures, and techniques. This position is a temporary seasonal (Summer/Afterschool) position. This position is responsible for creating an environment that promotes sportsmanship and team atmosphere. Examples of Duties
Leads and supervises assigned age groups. Acts as liaison between the Camp Supervisor, Camp Counselors, participants, and parents. Maintaining, understanding, and adhering to camper records to ensure health/safety/allergy/behavior/etc. needs are followed per parent/guardian requests. Responsible for group counts, ensuring adherence to camp ratio and participant accountability. With support from Camp Supervisor, oversees and maintains camper behavior, discipline, and conduct within the group to ensure safety of participants. Responsible for accurate attendance/tracking of assigned groups throughout the camp operations including camp group time and field trips. Prepares daily activities and ensures groups have materials and instructions needed for successful leadership; adapts activities, games and event to participants age, physical ability, and interests. Responsible for group activity and curriculum planning and execution. Leads camp counselors and campers in daily activities. Works cooperatively with other team members to meet program goals and assists with training programs for camp counselors. Responsible for checking facilities, equipment and reporting any issues to the Camp Supervisor. Completes accurate inventory and supply requests for planned group activities. Assists with daily inventory of all equipment, office or cleaning supplies, and snack needed. Responsible for ensuring camper sign in/sign out process and verification of approved pick up contact. Makes modifications to activities, games, and events to accommodate individuals with a variety of disabilities. Assists with maintaining records, including sign in sheets, information forms and reports. Direct incidents to Camp Supervisor, reports problems and exercises thoroughness and caution in maintaining maximum safety for all participant and camp team members. Ensures safe and proper use of group equipment and materials. Performs other job-related tasks as required. Experience and Training
Must be 17 years or older with 1 years of related work experience. Certificates and Licenses Required
Must possess current First Aid and CPR certification or ability to obtain during training. Preference for a valid Texas driver's license. Qualifications
Ability to follow oral and written directions. Ability to instruct participants in diverse activities and create positive work/program atmosphere. Ability to communicate effectively with team, program participants and parents. Ability to represent youth programs and City of Round Rock with professional and positive behavior. Working Conditions
Camp Site, Indoor/Outdoor Setting Work with camp participants ages 4-21 Work Hours: Monday
