Patient Access Advocate I

Presbyterian is seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Patient Access Advocate I to be the welcoming face of our healthcare team. In this vital role, you'll be the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional service while ensuring every registration is accurate, complete, and compliant. You'll handle everything from verifying insurance and collecting payments to guiding visitors and updating crucial demographic and billing information. (This differential may be adjusted or discontinued based on business requirements.) Qualifications

High school diploma/GED 6 months experience in healthcare setting or 1 year customer service background. Pass 2 week Patient Access Academy with a passing score of 85% or higher (within 6 mos of start). CHAA, CHAM or other industry equivalent certification preferred Basic understanding of insurance preferred. Basic understanding of medical terminology and billing codes (DRG, ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS) preferred Requires basic understanding of registration and healthcare. Basic knowledge in Microsoft Office Products Responsibilities

Deliver excellent service using CARES, AIDET, EPE, and PROMISE communication tools

Resolve complaints in the moment and request supervisor support if needed

Educate patients on insurance benefits and liabilities

Ensure financial clearance and transparency at time of service

Register patients accurately by collecting demographics and insurance details

Verify insurance eligibility and benefits via electronic systems or direct contact

Maintain accurate documentation and compliance with CMS and payer guidelines

Collect financial liabilities from patients and inform them of assistance options

Refer patients to Financial Advocates when needed

Correct data errors at time of service and maintain high productivity

Uphold compliance, report potential violations, and support risk management efforts

Follow policies, procedures, and quality standards in all transactions
