Hazard Analyst

ERG is seeking an experienced Hazard Analyst to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for evaluating energetics manufacturing facilities, equipment, and procedures to improve safety. The ideal candidate will have experience performing hazard analyses, facilitating meetings with large numbers of diverse stakeholders, working in production environments, and reviewing manufacturing processes. This position will be hybrid at the federal site in Indian Head, MD, and will include interaction and support from ERG personnel at the federal site, as well as from ERG's Fairfax and Arlington offices. Schedule and prepare for hazard analysis meetings Facilitate hazard analysis meetings with cross-functional teams of project stakeholders to offer expertise while ensuring productivity, structure, and focus Analyze process, equipment, and facility designs and procedures of varying maturity to identify and assess potential hazards and recommend hazard mitigation strategies Document findings in hazard worksheets, memoranda, reports, or other types of documentation Assist with tracking and implementing hazard mitigation strategies Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related engineering or process safety field Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience leading hazard analyses of varying types such as Hazard and Operability Study (HAZOP), What-if Analysis, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA), and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience working in a manufacturing or production environment Strong knowledge of hazard analysis standards and best practices, including OSHA 1910.119, Process Safety Management; ANSI/AIChE RP 75, Guidelines for Hazard Evaluation Procedures; ANIS/ISA/IEC 61511, Functional Safety: Safety Instrumented Systems for the Process Industry Sector; and MIL-STD-882, Department of Defense Standard Practice System Safety. Knowledge of NAVSEA OP 5, Ammunition and Explosives Safety Ashore is a plus Excellent communication and meeting facilitation skills Have or be able to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance $95,000 - $115,000 a year ERG offers competitive salaries and excellent benefits, including health and dental insurance, life insurance, long-term disability, educational benefits, FSAs, a generous 401k plan, profit sharing, an EAP, 11-20 paid vacation days per year, 10 paid holidays per year, 56 hours or more of sick leave (based on the state you work in) per year (pro-rated for part-time), and more.
