Assessment & Academic Programs Coordinator
The Assessment & Academic Programs Coordinator is an integral member of Academic Affairs, providing support to faculty and staff on academic program research, planning, implementation, data collection, modification, and communication as it pertains to the evaluation and improvement of curricular and co-curricular programming. This position emphasizes the design of efficient, effective and sustainable academic planning and assessment practices with a primary emphasis on student learning and retention. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution 2 or more years of experience in a related field Experience with basic statistics and data analysis, as well as general qualitative and quantitative research methods Technology skills and experience appropriate for the position Knowledge of basic student services and support functions in higher education, including advising, success coaching, academic alerts, academic policies and standards, course registration, and curriculum mapping and their impact on retention and graduation rates for traditional, underserved, transfer, and returning student populations Ability to work with confidential student information in a discreet and confidential manner Strong organizational, analytical, written and oral communication skills Strong organization skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and changing priorities The ability to foster and maintain strong professional relationships Must be capable of simultaneously working on multiple, complex projects independently and with a team Preferred Qualifications Advanced degree in a research or analytical field of study such as social sciences, educational, legal, or student services research or administration, or a closely related field One to three years of experience in assessment, research, and program evaluation, or other applied research fields, involving project design, data analysis and reporting Experience in survey design and other data collection tools such as rubrics Assessment, program evaluation, and/or research experience in higher education, student services and administrative settings Knowledge of visualization software Familiarity with software solutions to help managing the assessment and program review cycles The ability to communicate quantitative reasoning and analysis in organized and understandable ways, both orally and in writing Previous experience working with faculty and students Previous experience developing and leading trainings or workshops Ability to understand, reference and adhere to federal and state regulations, policies and procedures Essential Functions and Responsibilities Assessment and Accreditation Supports curricular and co-curricular programs in the divisions of Academic Affairs and Student Engagement with maintaining annual assessment processes that utilize an evidence-based approach for making program improvements. Participates in the collection and analysis of various assessment data to support program review, departmental and institutional accreditation, including dissemination of results. Supports the Liberal Arts Core program in data collection and analysis for annual assessment purposes as well as monitoring and reporting related to state compliance issues. Assists with the formation of clearly stated institutional and program goals for student learning and development of effective processes for assessment of the same. Active member of institutional and functionally-related assessment committees. Builds and maintains a database for academic and co-curricular assessment deadlines, plans and other records for use in annual program assessment, academic program review and accreditation reporting. Ability to work with Provost staff to explore AI tools that improve workflows, including assessment. Has ability to work with platforms to support annual assessment and academic program review functions. Develops and maintains assessment processes for new academic programs and strategic campus initiatives, in collaboration with initiative owners. Utilizes assessment and survey data to aid the Provost's Office in initiatives supporting advising, retention, and diversity, equity and inclusion. Monitors and supports planning and compliance with the Higher Learning Commission regulations. Perform other duties as assigned. Support for Student Retention Initiatives Helps to research best practices in student retention and degree completion, emphasizing the equitable and inclusive support of Native American students, students of color, first generation students, and Pell-eligible students. Supports the design, implementation, and assessment of new initiatives that will provide academic support services for specific student subpopulations, including concurrent high school students, transfer students, and returning students. Provides analysis of academic policies and helps with revisions of policies to support student success Support for Curriculum Initiatives Supports the academic affairs and enrollment management teams and designated staff with reviewing curriculum proposals and facilitating their approval in accordance with FLC policy. Works with the provost office on academic planning and strategy initiatives related to and connected with assessment and metrics. Collaborate with the Office of Institutional Research Works within the Office of Institutional Research to generate data needed for program, curricular, and retention initiatives. Acts as liaison between Institutional Research and faculty for use of data dashboards and developing data requests as it relates to program review. Reports to/Supervisory Responsibility: This position reports to the Data/AI Analyst. Friday 8-5, some work after hours or on weekends as necessary Compensation Salary range for this position is $55,000 to $61,000, plus a comprehensive benefits package.
