Development Services Supervisor
The Development Services Supervisor primarily oversees the Planning and Development online permitting process. This includes managing online intake, review, routing, issuance of permits, overseeing staff and maintaining excellent working relationships with the public, developers, contractors, and other government agencies. The Supervisor supports the Development Services Manager and assists with all functions of the division. Maricopa County is GROWING. Proud to Offer: Work with a greater purpose Tuition reimbursement Exceptional work-life balance Opportunities for growth and development within Maricopa County Low-cost, high-value healthcare for you and your qualifying dependents Child care benefits, including access to our on-site center Paid vacation, sick time, and parental leave Extensive wellness program, including healthcare premium discounts Maricopa County participates in the Arizona State Retirement System We Require: Five years of responsible experience related working with permitting High School Diploma or GED An equivalent combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the minimum qualification on a year-for-year basis We Also Value: Two or more years of supervisory experience Customer Service Support Experience Experience with government agencies Experience reading and interpreting complex plans, specifications, and legal descriptions Job Contributions: Supervises the work of professional and technical staff assigned to online permitting services, quality control, and distribution, including hiring, training, evaluating, and supporting staff Oversees the guidance of customers through an online chat and email ticketing system with the review and submission of technical residential and commercial building permit applications and site plans Identifies and implements process improvements to increase customer satisfaction, improve productivity, and decrease turnaround times for the digital permitting process under the direction of the Development Services Manager Support the Customer Service intake team by processing permit requests, issuing permits and doing QA/QC when needed Makes recommendations and assists the Development Services Manager in the implementation of Departmental procedures, goals, and objectives to ensure productivity goals are met Resolves complex customer complaints at the counter, over the phone, and via digital communication Acts as a backup and performs training and guidance to the Development Services Technician Lead/Senior positions including online permit routing, issuance, and all other digital Customer Service functions Organizes and prioritizes schedules and projects to achieve a balanced workload to meet urgent department needs Other Job Duties as assigned Working Conditions: Must possess or be able to obtain a valid Arizona driver's license by the time of hire Must complete a background check and fingerprint identification upon hire to secure and maintain an Arizona Department of Public Safety Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card Work is routinely performed in an office environment, which may require long periods of sitting, reading, and typing Requires travel to program sites throughout Maricopa County The position requires travel to and from various county, client, and contractor locations during a scheduled workday, subject to County policies regarding the use of County vehicles and/or private vehicles used on County business Exerting up to 10 lbs. occasionally or negligible weights frequently; sitting most of the time Position is typically office or administrative work and is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions Selection Procedure: Only the most qualified candidates will be considered Consideration will only be given to candidates who submit online applications Candidates will be contacted primarily through email and their Workday online application profile Must pass a pre-employment background and/or fingerprint investigation as required by statute or policy, including drug and alcohol testing requirements for positions designated as safety-sensitive Maricopa County is an equal opportunity employer.
