Lead Construction Inspector

We are looking for a Lead Construction Inspector within the San Francisco/Bay, CA Area to perform inspection of work on water/wastewater and tunneling projects. To ensure success in this role, you will apply your knowledge of engineering fundamentals and safety regulations to ensure the soundness of construction including shafts, Tunnel Boring Machines (TBM), segmental lining, and pipe installation. You will have the ability to work independently and perform duties in the construction field office. To effectively make decisions concerning work in progress and solving field and office problems. You'll work under the direction of a Resident Engineer, and will assume the following functional responsibilities: Perform quality assurance inspections to achieve compliance with contract plans and specifications. Perform quantity calculations and measurement for progress pay estimates and keep daily project records. Perform labor compliance interviews. Assist with preparation, analysis and review of contract change orders. Assist with the review of Critical Path Method (CPM) Schedule analysis. Assist with Water Pollution Control Program (SWPPP) enforcement. Promote and maintain a safe working environment. Ability to communicate with the RE, Project Manager, Principal Assistant Resident Engineer, field personnel, public outreach personnel, and the construction administration staff. Here's what you'll need: Bachelor's degree in construction management or engineering OR relevant project experience in lieu of education 10+ years of water/wastewater and tunneling inspection and construction management experience on large ($100M+) construction projects Must have a strong understanding and ability to read design drawings. Proficient in the use of computer application programs Word and Excel. Valid California Driver's License and good driving history Knowledge of construction practices, physical characteristics and properties of drainage and utility systems construction materials, and the approved methods and equipment used in making physical tests of construction materials. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Ability to walk construction site, including walking up and down slopes, climbing ladders, and walking on scaffolding and other temporary structures.
