Sompo has a unique opportunity for an experienced Casualty underwriting professional to join the E&S Excess Casualty Transportation team in our Alpharetta GA office reporting into the Senior Vice President, E&S Casualty Transportation. Our North America Casualty Transportation
E&S team brings significant expertise and deep-seated relationships with select appointed wholesale brokers. We offer meaningful in-house capacity, a consistent underwriting approach, timely and efficient turnaround, and a seasoned claims team. Our business, your impact, our opportunity: What you'll be doing: Evaluate all individual risk characteristics to properly determine capacity, attachment point, terms, and pricing Maintain and enhance existing broker relationships and identify and develop new relationships both regionally and outside the territory Adapt underwriting techniques to underwriting guidelines and rating plans to write a wide range of account size and operations Develop and execute marketing plan aimed at retaining existing business and producing new business Operate and lead a team-based environment which includes claims, legal and actuarial staff and fostering new underwriting talent Keep abreast of industry trends about pricing, new lines of business, developing claim issues Meet production, profitability and service goals What you'll bring: Casualty underwriting experience (including auto/transportation risks) Knowledge of the transportation industry, litigation trends Experience building productive partnerships with agents and brokers Excellent verbal and written communication Demonstrated proficiency in customer service and negotiation Ability to operate independently and as a member of a collaborative, cross functional team Excellent organization and time management capabilities Strong decision-making skills Bachelor's Degree from a four-year College or University preferred At Sompo, we recognize that the talent, skills, and commitment of our employees drive our success.
