Sheet Metal Operator
Headquartered in Fort Wayne, IN, WaterFurnace designs and manufactures ultra-efficient, renewable-energy comfort products that provide heating, cooling, and potable hot water solutions for use in both homes and commercial buildings. We employ more than 345 people in R&D, Manufacturing, Marketing, and Sales roles across the US and Canada. For almost four decades, our Geothermal Heat Pumps, Water Source Heat Pumps, and Heat Recovery Chillers have been reducing energy usage consumption and increasing comfort in buildings around the world. Looking to add an experienced Sheet Metal Operator to the team. We are looking for a skilled professional who can fabricate and assemble sheet metal parts. Able to work with various sheet metal gauges to create items like sheet metal cabinets, interior parts, and furnace casings. This involves tasks such as measuring, cutting, shaping, and joining sheet metal using hand and power tools, as well as specialized equipment like press brakes, turret punches, and spot-welding equipment. Key Responsibilities: Fabrication: Cutting, stamping, shaping, bending, and joining sheet metal to create specific parts or products. Assembly: Assembling sheet metal components using various methods like spot welding, riveting, and bolting. Installing fabricated sheet metal products, such as building cabinets, frames, in various settings. Blueprint Interpretation: Understanding and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, and specifications to ensure accurate fabrication and installation. Equipment Operation: Operating a variety of hand and power tools, including shears, brakes, punches, and welding equipment. Quality Control: Inspecting and ensuring the quality of fabricated and installed sheet metal products per the print specifications. Required Skills and Qualifications: Proficient in sheet metal fabrication techniques, including stamping, bending, and joining. Amada Turret and Amada Brake Press experience are a plus. Ability to understand engineering blueprints, and program the machines properly to make the parts to the blueprint specification, as well as operate various tools and equipment. Ability to handle and maneuver sheet metal, work in various positions (including overhead and awkward positions), and work with hand and power tools. Ability to identify and resolve issues during fabrication and installation. Knowledge of the 5s system and safety procedures and the ability to work with dangerous machines and sharp materials. Ability to work effectively with others and communicate clearly. Typical Work Environment: Fabricating, turret press, brake press, spot weld, and Revit sheet metal parts. Must be a team member able to see bottlenecks and adjust without being asked to help fellow employees to keep the flow of the department going.
