Converting Superintendent
The Converting Superintendent is responsible for leading and managing the converting department's operations. This role focuses on ensuring a safe working environment, maintaining high-quality standards, and achieving efficient production output. Key Responsibilities Lead, supervise, and develop Converting Supervisors and all hourly converting personnel. Oversee and evaluate the performance of all production shifts within the converting department. Communicate, implement, and enforce all company policies, procedures, plant standards, and safety programs. Foster a positive and productive work environment, promoting high morale through fair, consistent, and supportive leadership. Identify operational challenges (mechanical, scheduling, personnel) and collaborate with the Plant Manager and Maintenance Manager to develop and implement solutions. Ensure appropriate staffing levels and comprehensive training programs for all converting positions. Manage roll stock inventory and oversee efficient roll room operations. Ensure the proper upkeep and preventative maintenance of converting machinery; coordinate maintenance activities to minimize production downtime. Troubleshoot production issues and implement effective solutions to optimize performance. Promote and maintain excellent housekeeping standards throughout the converting department. Act as a role model by demonstrating superior behavior, attitude, and performance, upholding company values. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management. Education and Experience High school diploma or GED required. Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the corrugated industry. Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a Supervisory or Managerial role. Required Skills Language:
Ability to read and interpret technical documents (safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, procedure manuals), write routine reports and correspondence, and communicate effectively with individuals and groups (customers, employees). Mathematical:
Ability to read a tape measure quickly and accurately; able to calculate figures and amounts (percentages, measurements, volume, rate); understanding of basic high school level mathematical concepts. Reasoning:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to follow instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; ability to solve problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Technical:
Working knowledge of converting equipment design, capabilities, and efficient operational practices to effectively train staff and optimize production. Understanding of cost drivers and operational metrics to identify areas for improvement and support informed decision-making. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Required to have a clamp truck license.
