Healthcare Senior Project Engineer
We are searching for an experienced Healthcare Senior Project Engineer at our Tarlton HQ facility. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: The Senior Project Engineer will gain experience in construction estimating and job site construction activities and assist the Project Manager in delivering a profitable, well-constructed, safe project completed in the timeliest manner. They will assume responsibility (profit, schedule, safety, and quality) for selected projects and assist in the development of Project Engineers. Required Qualifications: Essential Activities: Develop support documentation and facilitate all aspects of subcontractor and owner construction meetings on assigned projects. Successfully acquisition $200,000 - $250,000 worth of new work over one fiscal year. Increase original profitability on projects within 0 to +10%. Develop and update the costbook on assigned projects. Develop and manage subcontracts on assigned projects. Assume responsibility for the profitability of assigned small projects. Assist in the preparation of owner invoices. Assume responsibility for the change proposal/change order process on assigned small projects. Maintain and become familiar with all aspects of current project documents and subcontractors' scope of work. Maintain all project logs as outlined in the Project Operations Manual. Review, submit, and follow up shop drawing submittals in a timely fashion to ensure conformance to the contract documents and specifications. Coordinate and expedite material deliveries. Coordinate subcontractors and ensure that their workmanship complies with the project specifications. Assist in coordinating construction activities. Monitor and advise the project manager of variances in job cost. Develop and update the project schedule. Review, code, and approve invoices. Obtain permits as required. Become proficient in quantity takeoffs. Develop pricing skills for construction activities. Solicit material and equipment quotations and prepare requisitions for approval. Complete as-built drawings, O&M's, warranties, etc., for project closeout. Participate in corporate estimating activities. Various other duties that may be assigned by the company. Communication in all Hospital Departments with Phasing Life Science experience and works within existing patient care facility Experience in including new and renovated patient care facilities. Behavioral Traits, Attitudes, and Skills Required: Must have the ability to make good decisions based on good analysis of relative factors. Must be able to communicate effectively. Must have the ability to perform task-oriented functions. Must be self-motivated and have the skills to motivate others. Work Environment and Physical Effort: Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment. If required, the employee may be located in a trailer at a job site location, or maintain an office at the owner's facility. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. No or very limited exposure to physical risk. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit and talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, and stoop or kneel. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. Prerequisites (i.e., Education, Experience): Engineering/architectural or construction management/technology degree is required. Must have a minimum of three years of construction experience. Must be able to read and interpret construction drawings and documents. Maintain current OSHA certificate.
