Data Analyst
The Data Analyst position is a professional/unclassified role within the LSUA FA - Information Technologies department. The work location is LSU - Alexandria, and the pay grade is Professional. The purpose of this position is to be responsible for all official university reporting. This includes understanding and analyzing university data in order to produce required reports as well as providing data, trends, and analyses to university stakeholders. Responsibilities include: Providing accurate data and reports to university departments as needed to enhance student success and operational efficiency across academic, student support, and administrative areas. Writing programming scripts to enhance functionality and/or performance of university applications as necessary. Working collaboratively with IET Services and other university offices to facilitate strong data governance and ensure the integrity of data in the university's data systems. Designing, running, and monitoring software performance tests on new and existing programs for the purposes of correcting errors, isolating areas for improvement, and general debugging. Developing and maintaining technical documentation (e.g. data definitions, code documentation, standard operating procedures, etc) for data, reports, and projects. Coordinating the completion of all required state and federal data reports, including but not limited to submissions to the Louisiana Board of Regents, National Student Clearinghouse, and IPEDS. Responding to internal and external ad hoc requests for university data. Supporting survey administration, conducting data analysis, and researching best practices for ongoing assessment, program review, strategic planning, accreditation, and related activities. Conducting studies on targeted topics such as recruitment, enrollment, retention, completion, and workforce outcomes as requested. Researching, analyzing, and interpreting university data and trends to provide strategic direction and support data-driven decision-making across university stakeholders. Developing dashboards and other online data tools to enhance data accessibility across university stakeholders. Qualifications include: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Decision Science/Analytics, Business Administration, Applied Statistics, or a related field, or a minimum of five (5) years of experience in a database or systems analyst related field, preferably in higher education. Candidates with 3-5 years of experience in Institutional Research in higher education are strongly encouraged to apply. Excellent understanding of coding methods and best practices. Extensive experience in data analysis using tools such as R, SPSS, SAS, Tableau, PowerBI, RapidMiner, JMP, Orange, Knime, and/or other similar data tools is required. Extensive knowledge and experience in programming and scripting languages such as: Microsoft SQL, Visual Basic, C#, PowerShell, Python, Java, JavaScript, and/or other similar languages is required. Knowledge and experience with ERP, SIS, and CRM system programming and reporting. Ability to design, develop, and manage relational database systems. Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws. Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills. Highly self-motivated and directed. Extreme attention to detail is required. Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment. Office hours are eight (8) hours per day, MondayFriday, 40 hours per week. Additional hours worked as needed.
