The primary function of the Imaging Assistant is to transport patients to and from Imaging Services Modalities. The Imaging Assistant will also maintain the cleanliness, availability and proper storage of all wheelchairs and stretchers. S/he will process films for the Radiologic Technologists as needed. Performs transport duties & assists technologists as needed * Transports patients for Imaging Services modalities and other hospital departments as needed using proper safety precautions for self & patients. * Cleans & disinfects wheelchairs & stretchers after every use and stores them in the appropriate area. * Demonstrates good communication skills with patients, staff & physicians. * Shows concern & consideration for special needs, difficult & apprehensive patients & families. * Supports hospital service management program. * Serves as sitter for patient as needed prior to, during or after procedures. * Provides emotional support to patients. * Understands & complies with the environment of care/infection control program. * Demonstrates knowledge of & complies with institutional activities & expectations. * Demonstrates knowledge & skills related to safety, security, hazardous materials, emergency preparedness, life safety & utility systems. Age Specific Standards * Communicates with parent/guardian/significant other regarding transportation issues and/or concerns based on level of comprehension, understanding and readiness to learn. * Maintains a safe environment utilizing appropriate equipment and safety devices, based on patients age and level of cognition. * Utilizing approaches and equipment appropriate to patients age and size. * Provides service to all patients regardless of age, race or sex. Patient population includes patients of all ages from child through the geriatric population. Performs Additional Duties as Assigned and Required.
