Pacs Administrator

The PACS Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the PACS equipment, including image workflow, archive and prefetch maintenance, end user support and acting as the interface or liaison to radiology and IT, as well as various PACS and imaging related vendors. The position requires related IT experience with server, workstation and networks, as well as a clear understanding of and experience with radiology and clinical environments. The position works closely with department managers, supervisors, radiologists and technologists to ensure proper, safe and compliant operation of the DICOM imaging workflow through-out the enterprise. Essential Job Functions: Configurations, system security, including anti-virus updates and application of preventative maintenance updates and ensuring network security from unauthorized access. Ensures the seamless transfer of Dicom images from modalities to the PACS system, remote reading/processing stations, and ultimately stored within database for archive Oversees functionality of Internal PACS system and all associated network Perform regular inspections to ensure all equipment is well maintained, up to date, operating in a safe work environment and in compliance with HIPAA and internal rules/policies, including keeping updated and secure records Manages and coordinates activities that require intra-departmental efforts between IT, radiology and/or PACS and imaging vendors. Works closely with radiologists, physicians, technologists, IT staff, and other healthcare professionals to effectively communicate PACS system performance, issues, and updates. Collaborates with the IT infrastructure team to ensure seamless integration of PACS with other clinical platforms. Proactively identifies and resolves PACS-related issues to minimize disruption to clinical workflows. Builds and manages new and existing networking PACS configurations for new Telerradiology partners Analyzes system performance data to identify areas for improvement. Implements solutions to enhance system efficiency, reliability, and user satisfaction. Performs PACS related training and introduction for new and existing users Adding and removing users from the system End user PACS application support Study administration, including mismatch corrections, merges or splits Setup and configuration of PACS applications on end user laptops or workstations Initial troubleshooting of the system and network, should problems occur Periodic reporting to Radiology Director on the state of the system Proposes additions and improvements to the system Participates in installations, updates or refreshes of the system as needed and per budget
