Accountant 1
The Accounting Clerk is responsible for providing support to the Finance Director by performing a variety of clerical and administrative tasks, including implementing the accounts receivable/receipting and accounts payable/disbursements and ensuring the proper recording of transactions, providing timely and accurate reports and analysis of the Center's operating departments. Areas of responsibility include but are not limited to the following: 1. Process high volumes of accounts payable and receipts accurately and timely 2. Assist with the count of daily deposits for bank deposit 3. Reconcile daily count deposits from membership system 4. Enter daily credit card payments, Corp giving and offsetting entry of total daily sales to accounting system. 5. Distribute invoices to Managers for approval. 6. Research and resolve vendor invoice discrepancies 7. Process invoices for Edit review and approval for the Kroc Officers and Finance Director 8. Prepare Weekly Cash flow statement 9. Prepare and perform check runs/distribution and mailing of checks 10. Handle disbursements and reconciliation of petty cash 11. Support Audit by providing documentation and reports as needed. 12. Prepare the sales tax return 13. Complete the bank reconciliation within the first 3 days of the month. 14. Review and reconcile the balance sheet. 15. Follow and ensure adherence to The Salvation Army Policies, Procedures, and Code of Ethics 16. Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Education: Bachelor's degree Preferred in accounting or a minimum of five years of professional general accounting or audit experience within an enterprise unit of an educational membership, faith-based or nonprofit entity with a budget of at least 8 million dollars. Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years accounting experience with a background in general ledger account reconciliation. Experience with fund accounting software and additional experience with membership or recreation management software is preferred. Skills/Abilities: 1. Financial statement preparation and analysis. 2. Professional accounting code of conduct. 3. Proficient with Microsoft Office products, with strong Microsoft Excel skills to design and update spreadsheets, as wells as other accounting software systems. 4. Understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) 5. Must be able to manage projects, priorities and programs in a constantly changing environment. 6. A willingness to promote the mission of The Salvation Army. Job Limitations 1. This individual will only commit Army resources that have been allocated or approved. 2. This individual will adhere to all policies and procedures in carrying out the responsibilities of this position. Physical Demands/Work Environment 1. This position requires sitting, climbing and /or balancing, stooping, kneeling, bending, stretching, crouching, use of vision, driving a vehicle, pushing/pulling/lifting/carrying up to 25 lbs and occasionally more than 25 lbs with assistance. 2. May be required to work weekends and nights. Competencies 1.
