Cloud Migration Engineer II

Overview: Full-time/Permanent Employee Location: Hybrid in San Antonio TX, Rome NY, Arlington VA (1-2 days in SCIF per week) Responsibilities
Act as a liaison between mission partners, DAFCw engineering, and leadership to communicate timelines, risks, and technical considerations clearly and effectively. Conduct detailed IT environment assessments, including dependencies, performance baselines, and risk profiles. Serve as a technical lead in the discovery, analysis, planning, and execution of cloud migration efforts for mission partners entering the DAFCw environment. Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of MaaS processes, tooling, and documentation. Proven ability to manage complex IT transitions, including legacy system modernization and mission-critical workload migrations. Utilize platform-specific migration tooling for DevSecOps, Collaboration Platforms (Jira, Confluence, GitLab, etc.), and Identity Management systems. Coordinate and execute migrations in agile "waves" to reduce risk and impact to production. Performs other related duties as assigned Key Qualifications
Clearance: Active TS/SCI Education and Years of Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related engineering or scientific discipline with at least 5 years of relevant experience. Demonstrated expertise in at least two of the following: cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP), Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, data migration, or software refactoring. Proven ability to manage complex IT transitions, including legacy system modernization and mission-critical workload migrations. Strong knowledge of the 7 R's of migration and experience applying them in real-world environments. Experience with migration tools such as AWS Application Migration Service, Azure Migrate, DataSync, Jira/Confluence Migration Assistant, or TransitionManager. Excellent communication skills with a track record of cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder engagement. CompTIA Security+ or other DoD 8570-compliant certification Preferred Additional Qualifications
Experience with agile delivery models and PI planning. Familiarity with USAF enterprise architectures, DevSecOps practices, and DoD cloud policies. Certifications in one or more of the following: Cloud certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect.
