Compensation: $35,290 - $42,350 (CS111) Hourly Employment Type: Regular Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 Grade: NE01 Department: Communications Position Summary The Traffic Manager is responsible for the creation, accuracy, and timely publishing of KSFR's on-air playlists and program content. This role uses radio traffic and automation software to ensure smooth daily broadcasts and compliance with programming standards. The Traffic Manager's primary responsibility is creating, proofing, and publishing KSFR on-air playlists and program hours. KSFR relies on ENCO's DAD automation system and Marketron's Radio Traffic program to organize sales and broadcast our content. Duties & Responsibilities Duties and Responsibilities: Create, proof, and publish KSFR on-air playlists using radio traffic software such as ENCO DAD and Marketron. Schedule underwriting and promotional spots in accordance with client agreements and internal guidelines. Monitor broadcasts through air-checks to ensure proper content is playing; report issues to the Operations Manager or Chief Engineer. Troubleshoot scheduling discrepancies with sales, content, and production teams. Collaborate with sales and content staff to review advertising content for compliance with FCC underwriting guidelines. Assist with audio editing and production of spots and programming using digital audio workstations (e.g., Adobe Audition). Maintain basic studio equipment and workstations, including cleaning and rebooting systems as needed. Report technical issues promptly to the Operations Manager or Chief Engineer. Operate or manage live on-air productions either in-studio or on-site, and provide occasional board operator support for remote broadcasts and special events as needed. Produce or voice on-air announcements to support station imaging and promotional content. Create, proof, and publish KSFR on-air playlists and program hours using ENCO DAD and Marketron Radio Traffic software. Schedule underwriting spots in playlists according to clients' contract agreements input by KSFR's sales department, and schedule promo spots according to KSFR best practices as outlined by the Content Director or Operations Manager. Verify through periodic air-checks that the station is on-air, the appropriate content is playing, and report outages to the Operations Manager and/or Chief Engineer, depending on the type of disruption. Troubleshoot scheduling discrepancies with KSFR Sales, Content Director, Production Technician, and/or Operations Manager depending on the type of discrepancy. Assist the Content Director and KSFR sales representative with edits regarding ad content, including audio and grammatical quality standards and current FCC Underwriting Guidelines. Assist with audio engineering, editing, and production of spots and show production as assigned and approved by the Content Director and/or Operations Manager. Assist with basic daily and routine maintenance of audio equipment, MacMini workstations, and basic DAD functions (such as rebooting MacMini workstations, wiping down studio mics, and cleaning workstations between sessions). Identify and report equipment failures to the Operations Manager and Chief Engineer. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Excellent administrative, communication, and organizational skills with strong attention to detail. Ability to use Mac and PC systems and quickly learn new software. Strong time management skills and the ability to meet broadcast deadlines. Experience working independently and collaboratively across departments. Flexibility to respond to last-minute programming changes and technical issues. Familiarity with public radio audiences and programming is a plus. Basic understanding of audio production and editing software. Basic knowledge of Mac and PC operating systems including Microsoft Word and Pages, and the ability to learn new software quickly. Ability to prioritize workflow and meet broadcast deadlines set by the Traffic Manager in conjunction with KSFR sales representatives, Content Director, and Operations Manager. Ability and willingness to work independently and as part of a team, specifically with multiple departments: Content, Production, and Operations. Flexible attitude and the ability to respond quickly and productively to last-minute changes to on-air programming such as host schedules/absences, content correction in playlists, and on-air content changes as deemed necessary by the Content Director or Operations Manager. A sound knowledge of the radio market and KSFR's demographic audience is helpful but not required. A basic understanding of audio recording techniques and audio production software such as Adobe Audition or a similar DAW. Work Hours 8 am to 5 pm Monday
Friday. Weekend and evening work may be required occasionally.
