Pinal County is seeking candidates for a position with the Sheriff's Office at PCSO Adult Detention - 971 Jason Lopez Circle Bldg B, Florence, AZ 85132, AZ. Typical classification essential duties include maintaining custody and control of inmates, maintaining safety and security, supervising inmate activities, providing equal protection and care for all inmates, monitoring inmates for rule violations, performing constant inspections and security checks, conducting body and cell searches, reporting and investigating disciplinary issues, performing special duties, maintaining facility and equipment, enforcing laws, updating records, working with law enforcement agencies, maintaining integrity and professionalism, and maintaining confidentiality. Minimum requirements include a high school diploma or GED equivalent, one year of corrections/detention work experience, a minimum age of 19, a certificate from an accredited Correctional Academy, a valid Arizona State Driver's License, and passing a thorough background investigation. Preferred qualifications include additional technical training and certifications. This position requires direct inmate contact and rotating shifts, a TB skin test, and successful completion of a criminal background check and verification of credentials. Knowledge, skills, and abilities include knowledge of policies and procedures, state and Federal laws, behavior patterns of incarcerated persons, use-of-force rules, techniques of inmate control, hazardous materials, records management, interpreting laws, decision-making, communication, operating equipment, interacting with diverse backgrounds, computer skills, and working under stress. Physical demands include maintaining physical condition, speech, hearing, eyesight, lifting, pushing, pulling, and reacting quickly under stress. The work environment includes a secure correctional environment, crisis situations, exposure to hazards, and long, irregular schedules.
