If you want the chance to lead, it's time to bring your talent to General Dynamics Mission Systems. We are looking for an enthusiastic and driven SONAR Test Engineer to join our dynamic team. We are the premier team in US NAVY Submarine Sonar installations. Our dedicated team collaborates closely with the NAVY, Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA), Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC), and Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Newport, RI (NUWCDIVNPT) to ensure the fleet assets are operational and battle ready. Role and Position Objectives:

Plans the technical approach, resources, schedule, tools and equipment required for AI&R installations, operation, troubleshooting and repairs. Installs and repairs AI&R Sonar equipment onboard US Submarines; instructs customers in equipment operation; provides technical assistance; checks equipment for malfunctions. Travel is required approximately 20% of the time. Perform technical writing to include installation and test procedures, plans and reports. Support various working groups and meetings. Capability to plan, test and report results of interface issues with AI&R and other related systems onboard US NAVY Submarines. Considered expert in SONAR field within the organization. Become certified in building and testing Mil-Spec Fiber Optic cables, connectors, and networks within 6 months per NAVSEA requirements. Become OSHA Maritime trained within 6 months. Knowledge of basic tool operations and safety. Must be able to physically climb ladders and lift 50 lbs. What You Bring to the Table:

A Bachelor's of Science or Technology degree, a related specialized area or field (or equivalent experience) plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience Subject matter expert (SME) in one discipline/field and developing working knowledge in adjacent disciplines/fields Proficient understanding and application of engineering principles, concepts, practices, and standards What Sets You Apart:

Proficiency in SONAR operation, testing, and troubleshooting. 5 years of experience with AN/BQQ-10 Submarine SONAR Systems. US Submarine Operational experience. Proficiency with Microsoft Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project). US Navy SONAR Submarine experience. General knowledge of Submarine Combat Systems. Passport for foreign travel. Currently hold a Secret clearance as a minimum. Ability to work independently with US NAVY fleet personnel without supervision. This position is 100% on-site and located in Groton, Connecticut.
