Maintenance Supervisor

This position will remain open until filled with preference given to applications received by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, August 15, 2025. This position will work a rotation schedule every other week. Week 1: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday 1:00-11:30pm; Friday 12:30-11pm. Week 2: Wednesday, Thursday 1:00-11:30pm; Friday 12:30-11:00pm; Saturday 8:30am-7:00pm (Schedule repeats 4-10 hour shifts). The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for administration and supervision of the maintenance needs of all Metro Bus vehicles, equipment, facilities, and grounds. The Maintenance Supervisor provides direct supervision and management of the Mechanics, Fuelers, and Facility & Bus Cleaners. Essential Functions of the Position

Assist with administration and oversight of maintenance needs of all Metro Bus property and equipment. Responsible for compliance with Metro Buss comprehensive preventative maintenance inspection and repair program for:
Metro Bus fleet (revenue and non-revenue vehicles) Oversee preventative maintenance and mechanical repairs Monitor preventative maintenance intervals, checklists, replacement parts, and fluids Ensure proper completion of maintenance records and forms and all maintenance activities are accurately documented Perform road calls and/or switch out buses when equipment fails. Troubleshoot, fix, and repair buses roadside Responsible for ensuring efficient and effective maintenance, cleaning, and upkeep of all Metro Bus fleet
Metro Bus support equipment, diesel, and CNG fueling and monitoring stations Oversee preventative maintenance and mechanical repairs Monitor preventative maintenance intervals, checklists, replacement parts, and fluids Ensure proper completion of maintenance records and forms and all maintenance activities are accurately documented Responsible for oversight of the fueling of CNG and diesel buses using the tricorder per standard operating procedures All Metro Bus facilities and grounds Oversee preventative maintenance and repairs Monitor preventative maintenance intervals, checklists, replacement parts, and fluids Ensure proper completion of maintenance records and forms and all maintenance activities are accurately documented Responsible for ensuring efficient and effective maintenance, cleaning, and upkeep of all Metro Bus facilities and grounds, bus shelters, and stops including but not limited to snow removal and storage and parking lot and ground maintenance Manage inventory of parts, supplies, tires, equipment, fleet, fuel, and fluids using a Just in Time Inventory management philosophy. Complete tire mileage reports Responsible for posting of daily, weekly, and monthly fuel and fluid usage Responsible for ordering and receiving all parts Management and supervision of staff Manage employee performance; provide coaching and mentoring, address performance concerns, and issue discipline as appropriate Responsible for daily supervision of Mechanics, Fuelers, and Facility & Bus Cleaners Manage maintenance staff in daily maintenance operations Ensure compliance with policies, rules, regulations, and schedules. Maintain appropriate written documentation Assist the Human Resource and Training and Safety department in: Screening, interviewing, and hiring of direct staff Planning and preparation of training and remedial programs to new and present staff Maintaining the application of appropriate preventative measures and procedures for shop safety and OSHA compliance Ensure proper care and use of tools, equipment, and shop areas Communicates courteously and professionally and maintains respectful working relationships with coworkers and customers in carrying out job functions Performs all job duties in compliance with safety guidelines and with an ongoing awareness of safety practices Knows and follows safety rules and guidelines as well as sound work and safety practices in order to accomplish the job objectives and avoid injury or loss Wears proper protective equipment when policy requires or conditions indicate a need exists and utilizes proper body mechanics and ergonomics while performing work When potentially unsafe conditions are observed, makes efforts to avoid or correct them if they are controllable and draws them to the attention of the responsible supervisor or safety representative in a timely manner Performs other duties and activities as assigned. Minimum Qualifications
The job requires a two (2) year degree or certification from a technical or community college, two (2) years of experience in automotive or heavy-duty vehicle mechanics, and three (3) years of management and supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have, or be able to obtain within 90 days, a valid Class B Minnesota Driver License, with passenger and air brake endorsements and current DOT medical certification. Knowledge, skills, and abilities required include: Demonstrated background in heavy duty vehicle maintenance Knowledge in the operating principles of diesel and heavy-duty vehicle equipment, shop equipment, and other related vehicle and facilities items Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade Experience with vehicle, fluids, and parts inventory and fleet maintenance software Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality Ability to operate buses and support vehicles and equipment including a plow truck, fork lift, skid loader, and floor scrubber Proficient in the use of computers and electronic diagnostic programs Must be able to read and speak English well enough to read technical documents and effectively communicate with team members. Bilingual a plus Ability to work flexible work schedules including late evenings, early mornings, and weekends Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with co-workers, subordinates, and the general public and to diffuse situations/conversations that have escalated beyond normal limits Interpersonal skills sufficient to exchange and or convey information, receive work direction, and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of employees, committees, and groups; and to diffuse situations/conversations that have escalated beyond normal limits Ability to maintain a valid Class B Minnesota Driver License, with passenger and air brake endorsements, and a current DOT medical certificate Desirable Qualifications
Knowledge of CNG operating principles Knowledge of Fleet Maintenance software principles Physical Demands and Working Environment
This position is alternately in an office and maintenance shop environment requiring alternating periods of sitting and walking throughout the maintenance garage Occasional exposure to temperature extremes, noise, physical, and/or chemical hazards Utilizes personal computer, phone, and other office equipment on a regular basis Will require limited travel outside of the office and maintenance shop. Will primarily utilize a Metro Bus vehicle for travel This position requires 24/7 availability either in person or by phone.
