Director, Procurement
Trupanion is a leading provider of medical insurance for cats and dogs in North America. Our mission is to help loving, responsible pet owners budget and care for their pets. We are seeking our first Director of Procurement to architect and lead a company-wide procurement strategy. This role will be responsible for designing the structure, processes, tools, and policies for sourcing goods and services across the enterprise. You'll partner closely with Finance, Legal, IT, and department leaders to build a procurement function that balances cost control, compliance, and strategic supplier partnerships. This position is open to candidates in the Seattle area. You will have a hybrid remote/in-office schedule, working from our casual, pet-friendly office at least three days a week. Key Responsibilities (What you will do): Build, design and implement procurement policies, workflows, and reporting structures from scratch Create sourcing strategies for various categories such as technology, professional services, and facilities Support supplier evaluation, negotiation, and vendor management processes Partner with finance to provide spend visibility, track, analyze, identify opportunities for savings or consolidation, and improve ROI Collaborate with Legal to oversee procurement contract standards and risk mitigation strategies Evaluate and deploy procurement and sourcing tools/systems suitable for our scale and growth trajectory Create a compelling case for organizational change and improve business engagement Engage internal stakeholders with cross-functional education on procurement best practices and value creation Qualifications and Experience: 8 - 10 years of experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, or supply chain, with at least 3 years in a leadership role Procurement certification (e.g., CSPM, APP, ISM, IPMM, MCIPS) or related degree preferred Proven track record of building or transforming procurement functions Deep knowledge of procurement principles, compliance, and category management Strong negotiation skills and experience leading RFPs and vendor assessments Experience implementing procurement software or ERP systems a plus Comfort operating in ambiguity and creating structure from the ground up Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills Compensation: The pay range for this position is $160,000
$180,000 on a full-time schedule. Along with base salary, Trupanion employees may be eligible for monthly bonuses. We want all employees to be invested in Trupanion's success, so we grant Restricted Stock Units to all new team members. Our new hire grants vest over 4 years.
