Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas is looking to add to our Underwriting team and has a new opportunity for a Group Rating Operations Analyst. This position is responsible for optimizing and streamlining rating processes, including reporting, exhibit updates, activity tracking, concession analysis, and bid math. This role ensures accurate monitoring of rating activities, provides data-driven insights to support pricing decisions, and enhances automation efforts. The analyst collaborates with the Manager, Group Rating, and key stakeholders in Sales, Actuarial, and Underwriting to drive process improvements and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of rating operations. The compensation range for this role is a good faith estimate, it is estimated based on what a successful candidate might be paid. All offers presented to candidates are carefully reviewed to ensure fair, equitable pay by offering competitive wages that align with the individual's skills, education, experience, and training. The range may vary above or below the stated amounts. What You'll Do Develop and maintain a rating activity tracker to monitor and prioritize rating tasks, ensuring workflow efficiency and structured communication with Sales. Oversee exhibit updates and reporting processes, ensuring accuracy and consistency in financial and rating presentations. Conduct concession analysis, tracking trends and providing actionable insights to Sales for pricing adjustments and strategy refinement. Provide bid math analytics to Sales, supporting employer group pricing decisions with relevant data and scenario modeling. Collaborate with Quality & Tools to support automation initiatives, reducing manual reporting and streamlining rating workflows. Ensure structured communication between Group Rating, Underwriting, and Sales to improve transparency and alignment on rating decisions. Assist in developing and maintaining training materials to enhance knowledge-sharing and upskill team members in rating methodologies. Support compliance with federal and state regulations, including ERISA and ACA, by ensuring rating activities align with regulatory standards. Identify and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency, reporting accuracy, and decision support within Group Rating. Assist with system testing and enhancements for rating automation and reporting tools, working closely with IT and system administrators. What You Need Bachelor's degree in Business, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, or a related field. Minimum of 4 years of experience in group rating, underwriting, actuarial, or a related operational role in the health insurance industry. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to track rating activities, analyze concessions, and support bid math calculations. Experience with rating methodologies, underwriting principles, and financial analysis related to employer group pricing. Ability to create, manage, and optimize tracking tools and reporting solutions for rating processes. Excellent communication and collaboration skills to facilitate coordination between Sales, Actuarial, and Underwriting. Proficiency in data management tools, reporting software, and automation solutions. Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines. Knowledge of regulatory compliance related to group rating, including ERISA and ACA. Ability to identify process inefficiencies and develop innovative solutions to improve workflow. Bonus if you have Experience with data tracking, process automation, and reporting tools preferred. Background in sales support, rating methodologies, or health insurance pricing is a plus.
