Overview
The IS Mechanical Designer III will design mechanical systems, components, or assemblies using engineering principles. Responsibilities
The IS Mechanical Designer III will: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and contractors to create unique high-level concepts and designs for all assigned projects. Work closely with the team to ensure the successful execution of goals of all assigned projects. Conduct field surveys to identify existing equipment types and system capabilities. Produce, with limited supervision, design documents including drawings, system flow diagrams and architecture, wiring diagrams, construction details, and equipment scheduling. Deliver concepts and designs according to strict project deadlines. Contribute to all areas of the creative process and department. Handle complex issues and problems and refer only the most complex issues to higher-level staff. Provide leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to team members. May act as a lead or first-level supervisor. Provide training to designer level staff on basic design principles and standards. Qualifications
The IS Mechanical Designer III should have: An associate degree in HVAC Technology, Building Systems Engineering, Construction Management, or related field. 4-6 years design experience. Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and REVIT. Strong technical skills. Effective oral and written communications skills. Vision and creativity. Ability to meet deadlines. Planning skills. Possesses working knowledge of the subject matter. Detail-oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment. Excellent multitasking skills, with the ability to perform duties outside of the scope of work when necessary. Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree. Building Automation System design and sequence writing experience. Preferred systems include Siemens, JCI, Honeywell, Trane, Struxureware, and Tridium. HVAC Design and Commissioning experience. Preferred systems include Chilled Water, Heating Water, Condenser Water, and Steam. Higher Education and Healthcare design experience. Outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind. Noisy environment. Quiet environment. Small and/or enclosed spaces. Climbing stairs. Moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces. Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods. Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers. Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another. Light work that includes adjusting and/or moving objects up to 20 pounds. 10-25% of time will be spent traveling to job site(s)/office location.
