Salary $30,123 The Event Setup/General Maintenance position reports to the Director of Physical Plant. This is a semi-skilled position with primary responsibilities in supporting university event operations through detailed setup and logistics support. The employee will serve as the lead for planning, organizing, assembling, and disassembling equipment for university events, meetings, and activitiesindoors and outdoorsensuring proper layout, safety, and functionality. Secondary responsibilities involve participation in the campus Preventive and General Maintenance Program. These duties may include minor work involving electrical and HVAC systems, servicing and replacing plumbing fixtures, carpentry and repair work, and assisting the campus safety program in identifying and resolving safety issues. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to develop expertise in a trade, work independently, and read and understand construction documents to plan maintenance activities accordingly. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Event Setup Serve as the point person for event logistics and setups, including but not limited to: placement of tables, chairs, stages, podiums, sound systems, AV equipment, banners, and other materials. Coordinate setup and breakdown of university-sponsored events (e.g., commencement, orientations, conferences, student activities, athletic functions). Ensure all event spaces are set up according to university standards and client specifications, including safety and accessibility compliance. Collaborate with other departments to confirm scheduling, layout, and equipment requirements. Maintain and organize event setup inventory and report needs for repairs or replacements. Be available and responsive for after-hour events to support equipment and environmental needs, such as HVAC and lighting adjustments. General Maintenance Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance/general maintenance of designated buildings and equipment. Make minor repairs and corrections to plumbing, electrical, heating, air conditioning, and equipment as required. Assist with energy management to identify and reduce areas of waste and energy loss. Support the campus safety program by resolving safety-related issues such as non-functional exit signs or lighting. Assist electrician, campus plumber, and HVAC mechanic with major installations and repairs. Provide support on renovation/construction projects as needed. Additional Performance Responsibilities

In relation to level of NIMs training completed, participates in incident management preparation, and performs incident duties as assigned. Minimum Education, Training, and Experience

Minimum of 5 years' experience and high school diploma. Basic computer skills. Effective written and verbal communication skills with contractors, suppliers, and staff. Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs. Willingness to respond after hours for emergencies. Preferred: Experience with basic AV setup (sound systems, projectors, etc.). Proficiency with work order systems or scheduling/event management software. Working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, or plumbing systems.
