Technology Strategy, Global Infrastructure & App Security (TSGI) is looking for an innovative and driven leader with a passion for Cybersecurity and Technology. This Network Security Engineer role will support a new organization dedicated to Network & Infrastructure Security Governance, specifically for our Verizon Global Service (VGS) Enterprise Network. This role will partner and work closely with key cross-functional stakeholders, like Verizon Cybersecurity (VCS), Global Network & Technology (GNT) Network Security, and our VGS Enterprise Network teams, in order to protect our network and align on proactive security measures to effectively mitigate risks, enable safe digital transformation, and defend against emerging threats and vulnerabilities. ###
What youll be doing...
Supporting the day-to-day operations; this involves engaging both internal and external stakeholders, at times utilizing a dotted-line leadership approach Automating and continuously improving processes by evaluating and implementing automation tools and measuring effectiveness; this includes working with our Verizon India team to execute. Designing network security and governance reporting dashboards, scorecards and maturity models used to quantify and reduce cyber risks through actionable frameworks Supporting the design of VGS Enterprise Network, Retail stores, and Verizon offices; aligning with industry best practices; requires infrastructure and zero trust alignment Identifying and mitigating security risks in network and infrastructure architecture designs. This involves creating solutions to address security gaps, reduce vulnerabilities, and enhance overall security Collaborating with stakeholders to identify gaps and process improvements in order to enhance security protections and improve cybersecurity maturity Assisting with the transformation of the zero trust framework for VGSTs Network, Infrastructure, and Cloud Governance models Providing security awareness, training & compliance programs focused on Network Cybersecurity practices; this will require leveraging the Mavens program, a team of security professionals who facilitate adoption of Security by Design Partnering with our Verizon Cybersecurity teams; to include participating in Active Defense and Incident Response, Penetration Testing, Red team and Threat Hunt campaigns, as well as Tabletop Exercises when necessary Reviewing outcomes of root cause analysis, compliance audits, and lessons learned to ensure repeatable and sustainable processes are established, followed or adjusted when necessary Supporting internal audit reviews. This includes producing and presenting artifacts and executive summaries to support the overall teams mission Executing short-term strategic goals and ensuring proper updates are socialized to appropriate stakeholders; this requires cross-functional collaboration and relationship building to also achieve wider, organizational strategic goals Promoting an environment of collaboration and individual accountability when it comes to problem-solving, decision-making, and process improvements "This position can be located in other valid Verizon Hub locations" ###
Youll need to have:
Bachelors degree or four or more years of work experience Four or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through work experience and/or military experience Two or more years of experience with scripting and programming for automation of data parsing, API interactions, and custom tool development
### Even better if you have one or more of the following:
Knowledge and experience in analyzing large datasets (e.g., netflow, firewall, DNS, Proxy, VPN logs) to identify anomalies and perform in-depth analytics Experience with data analytical tools such as Splunk, Elasticsearch, or Hadoop Experience in creating, modifying, and executing Ansible playbooks for automation, configuration management, and orchestration of security deployments across diverse network devices and servers Strong database skills such as SQL for querying, analyzing, and managing large databases Comprehensive understanding of cybersecurity, network defense, and investigative frameworks (such as NIST 800-53 and CSF 2.0, ISO 27000 series, MITRE ATT&CK, Lockheed Martin Cyber Kill Chain, etc.) into network defense processes High-level understanding of Cloud Environments (AWS, Azure, OCI) and Operating Systems (Windows, Unix/Linux, and OSX) Certifications like: Network+, Security+, CISSP If Verizon and this role sound like a fit for you, we encourage you to apply even if you dont meet every even better qualification listed above. ### Where youll be working In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and a minimum eight assigned office days per month that will be set by your manager. ### Scheduled Weekly Hours 40 ### Equal Employment Opportunity
