OVERVIEW Were looking for a skilled and proactive
Network Security Engineer
to take ownership of maintaining and improving the security of our network systems and infrastructure. This role will be key in ensuring the integrity, performance, and reliability of systems critical to business operations. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on expertise in firewalls, identity management, VPNs, and system monitoring, as well as a strong understanding of security best practices and compliance. RESPONSIBILITIES: Administer and maintain firewalls, VPNs, email security, and identity/domain security systems. Configure, deploy, and manage security platforms including antivirus, anti-spam, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and cryptographic tools. Lead patch management efforts, system updates, and resolve software-related issues to maintain optimal performance and security. Perform regular audits and vulnerability testing, leading remediation efforts as needed. Analyze security logs and alerts, ensuring compliance with internal policies and industry standards. Support and maintain disaster recovery strategies across servers, databases, and software platforms. Manage user access, permissions, and account terminations in accordance with security protocols. Maintain up-to-date system documentation, including network maps, procedures, and technical configurations. Provide input on security-related hardware/software purchases and lead implementation efforts in collaboration with vendors. Stay current with relevant certifications and industry developments to ensure effective network defense strategies. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related field
(preferred) 35 years of hands-on experience managing network infrastructure and identity management systems. Strong understanding of Microsoft environments, including Windows Server (20082025), Active Directory, SQL Server, Windows 11, Microsoft 365, and Windows networking. Experience working with SD-WAN technologies. Proven knowledge of network security concepts and tools such as firewalls, antivirus, cryptography, and SIEM platforms. Familiarity with PCI DSS standards and experience in retail IT environments is a plus. Exceptional multitasking and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to convey complex information to both technical and non-technical audiences. Self-motivated and adaptable, with a collaborative mindset and a strong sense of ownership. Seniority level
