We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Systems Engineer to support advanced propulsion system development for aerospace applications. This is a Level 4 contract role designed for an experienced professional who can lead and coordinate engineering activities across multiple teams. You'll play a key role in driving technical direction, managing requirements and risks, and applying Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies to support solid rocket propulsion systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the planning and execution of systems engineering efforts on major projects or project phases.
- Apply advanced Systems Engineering and MBSE practices to manage requirements, verification, and risk throughout the product lifecycle.
- Develop innovative solutions to complex engineering challenges using creative problem-solving and cross-functional coordination.
- Interface with engineering leadership and customer technical representatives, often across multiple organizational boundaries.
- Provide technical leadership to support teams ensuring cohesive project execution and alignment with program goals.
- Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
- 6+ years of relevant industry experience, or 4+ years with a Master's degree.
- In-depth understanding of solid rocket motor fundamentals and experience supporting full product development cycles.
- Hands-on experience in:
- Requirements management (preferably with IBM Rational DOORS)
- Risk and opportunity management
- MBSE methodologies and tools (e.g., Cameo)
- Requirements management (preferably with IBM Rational DOORS)
- Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to work effectively in multi-disciplinary teams.
- Advanced degree in Systems Engineering or a related discipline.
- Formal coursework or certification in Systems Engineering areas such as requirements engineering or risk management.
- Experience developing:
- MBSE architectures for DoD and commercial programs
- Contract proposals and Basis of Estimates (BOEs)
- Requirements verification frameworks using SysML, UML, or UPDM within Cameo or similar modeling tools
- MBSE architectures for DoD and commercial programs
- Familiarity with DoD ground- and air-launched systems and related system architecture and documentation requirements.
