Paraprofessional for our 21st Century Community Learning Center (CCLC) after school program at Rock Spring Elementary School
provides direction for the program and classroom and implements program curriculum. The 21st CCLC Paraprofessional provides a quality experience to children and parents that focuses on the YMCA values: honesty, respect, responsibility, caring and faith.
Shifts for this role are Monday-Friday from 2pm-6pm every day that school is in session.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: •Implements daily lesson/activity plans within established guidelines. •Supervises children and all program activities. •Makes ongoing, systematic observations and evaluations of each child. •Maintain positive relationships through effective communication and engagement with parents. •Maintains program site and equipment. •Maintains required program records. •Attends and participates in YMCA Branch family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and staff training. •Attend and participate in school partner family nights, school events, and school activities. •Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: •Must be 18 years of age or older. •High school diploma or equivalent required; one year of college preferred. •Previous experience working with elementary school aged children in a group setting preferred. •Previous experience working with elementary school aged people from various diverse backgrounds preferred. •Bilingual (Spanish/Russian/Ukrainian/English) a plus. •Must have open availability between the hours of 1:45pm pm to 6:30 pm Monday through Friday.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS •Ability to lead and participate in activities in both indoor and outdoor settings, and in various temperatures. •Ability to walk, stand, sit, kneel, bend, stoop and lift up to 50 lbs. •Ability to communicate with others, including verbally and in writing.
TRAINING •CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention training required within 30 days of
hire date. •New Employee Orientation required within the first week of hire. •Required state trainings for licensed sites.
