The Mutual Group . Job Description As the Vice President, Programs, you will be responsible for leading the overall strategy, profit and loss, and execution of the GuideOne business unit. This executive role aligns long-term strategy and financial goals with business processes to successfully manage delegated authority business. Your responsibilities include developing capabilities and talent; building strong market relationships with MGAs and brokers; sourcing, onboarding, and managing program administrators/MGAs; and overseeing the profit and growth of existing programs through effective controls and oversight. Accountabilities Develop GuideOne’s short and long-term strategy in Programs, including appetite, target portfolio mix, value proposition, and capabilities. Lead the execution of business unit strategies, translating objectives into actionable plans, fostering cross-functional collaboration, and delivering performance outcomes that support organizational success. Optimize the utilization of GuideOne’s capacity in structuring programs to limit volatility and maximize steady long-term growth in premiums and surplus. Manage the Programs team of directors, underwriters, and support staff handling underwriting and distribution activities. Build and maintain key MGA and broker relationships to ensure a steady pipeline of new business opportunities and an optimal, profitable portfolio. Design and develop internal capabilities supporting underwriting, onboarding, and stewardship of profitable programs. Achieve key performance indicators and financial metrics, using data analytics and reports to monitor progress, identify gaps, and implement corrective actions. Manage authority, pricing, terms, conditions, appetite, and guidelines for each program. Oversee the program budget to ensure target expense ratios are met. Collaborate with other teams to ensure proper governance and oversight. Develop and refine audit protocols to maintain underwriting integrity and compliance. Advise executive leadership on MGA market landscape, competitive positioning, and emerging opportunities. Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and partner meetings, communicating value, vision, and strategy effectively. Skills/Requirements Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, insurance, or related field. 10+ years of progressive responsibility in property & casualty commercial lines underwriting, including leadership roles and program management experience. Proven success in the programs market with established relationships and a track record of growth and results. Strong relationship-building, project management, and leadership skills. Strategic thinking with the ability to translate vision into execution. Ability to influence stakeholders and align diverse teams. Excellent communication skills. Strong collaboration and facilitation skills. Willingness to travel as needed. CPCU or similar insurance designation preferred. Compensation $177,000 - $250,000, commensurate with experience, plus bonus eligibility. Benefits Competitive salary and incentive plans. 401(k) with up to 6% company match.
