In addition, the candidate should have working knowledge of interactions between the OS, BIOS, and Baseboard Management Controller. The candidate should possess strong Linux internals knowledge and deep experience analyzing kernel crash dumps using tools such as the crash utility. A good understanding of PCI initialization, enumeration, and RAS events in both CPU and PCI subsystems is required. Knowledge of Oracle Engineered systems/Exadata stack and experience with Linux performance tuning for these systems is also essential. Career Level - IC5 Responsibilities: As a member of the software engineering division, you will work with hardware and platform software teams (BIOS, BMC) to bring up new releases of Oracle Linux and Ubuntu operating systems. You should have a good understanding of Intel, AMD, and ARM processor architectures to debug issues at BIOS or Linux OS levels. You will troubleshoot issues during the OS boot process, including PCI, NVMe, and network drivers. You should be able to evaluate CPU and IO performance issues, especially in Oracle Exadata configurations. Strong knowledge of C programming and the ability to review kernel patches and write automated tests in scripting languages like Bash or Python are required. Collaboration with hardware, BIOS, and BMC teams is essential to resolve issues during system bring-up and QA testing. Experience with Windows and VMware certifications and working with these vendors is a plus. As an OCI engineer, periodic on-call duties for customer escalations and field issues are expected.
