Position: Behavioral Health Director
Location: Woodland, CA
Hours: Full Time
Compensation: $110,000 - $130,000 annually, depending on experience
Job Summary:
The primary role of the Behavioral Health Director is to work with the leadership team to maintain program excellence, licensure, and accreditation. This is accomplished by demonstrating ongoing compliance with all program rules and regulations in a strong team-based environment. This position carries the daily responsibility for the coordination and supervision of the residential and outpatient substance use disorder treatment programs as well as the client services program that includes our CalAIM funded services.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Maintain cultural competency, including knowledge and understanding of the population(s) served.
- Understand program performance and outcome goals and plan to meet and exceed these goals.
- Facilitate implementation of the organization's strategic plan as it relates to treatment objectives.
- Represent the program in meetings with internal and external partners and stakeholders.
- Facilitate weekly staff meetings and case conferences; supervise managers and staff monitoring for professional/position standards in accordance with organization policies and procedures and state and federal laws.
- Support managing staff to coordinate staff schedules and compile bi-weekly timesheets.
- Compile and report data and statistics as required.
- Develop, update, and revise policies and procedures to maintain compliance with all applicable standards and support continuous program improvement.
- Maintain and implement internal tracking methods to ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards; supervise managers and staff to maintain an atmosphere of regulatory compliance at all times.
- Assure maximum capacity is maintained and paperwork is submitted for timely and complete billing.
- Complete regular reports for contract compliance, including responses required as a result of program monitoring.
- Aid managers and staff in professional development and job performance success.
- Communicate organization and program-level information to managers and staff; explain and enforce all rules and regulations.
- Facilitate positive relationships with all stakeholders, effective and efficient communication.
- Communicate information to the leadership team to support program and policy decisions.
- Provide and/or ensure temporary coverage for group and individual counseling as needed.
- Participate in weekly leadership meetings and monthly quality assurance meetings.
- Attend training and conferences as needed.
- Establish medical necessity for DMC and approve treatment plans (licensed clinician).
- Provide clinical supervision for counselors (licensed clinician).
Leadership
- Work with the Executive Director, Board, and agency leadership to develop personnel to achieve the agency's mission and meet critical community needs.
- Represent Fourth & Hope professionally in policy and decision-making.
- Serve as a member of the Senior Management Team that is responsible for setting organizational direction, making inclusive and transparent decisions, and facilitating an inclusive and positive internal climate and culture.
- Develop annual department budget and coordinate with cross-agency financial strategy.
- Attend monthly board meetings and provide reports and briefs to the Board of Trustees on projects and obtain Board approvals.
- Structure and lead teams to deliver outstanding client work and performance outcomes.
- Represent Fourth and Hope in industry groups, conferences, professional associations, and other public venues.
- Partner with the ED in essential internal leadership activities (human resources, administration, and organizational planning).
- Perform other duties as assigned or otherwise identified.
Qualifications:
- Possess appropriate licensure as a licensed clinician (LMFT/LCSW).
- Knowledge of substance use, mental health, and criminal justice populations. Understanding of the clinical treatment model, including ASAM Criteria in treatment planning preferred.
- Bilingual preferred.
- Ability to support a treatment team approach.
- Strong attention to detail and collaboration with internal and external teams.
- Must possess current and valid California driver's license, including a driving record acceptable to F&H insurance company.
- Must pass criminal background screening.
- Completion of a pre-employment drug screening and post-employment drug or alcohol tests upon reasonable suspicion of use.
- Must be insurable by F&H insurance carriers.
- Provide required proof of legal right to work in the United States.
- Must provide T.B. clearance from a medical professional.
- Other requirements as needed to maintain compliance with partner agreements.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Knowledge of nonprofit administration, leadership, and funding.
- Knowledge of principles of business writing, basic presentations, proper grammar, spelling, punctuation, and composition of participant and agency documents.
- Knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws.
- Possess reasoning and problem-solving skills, with emphasis on seeking solutions.
- Ability to manage, prioritize, and delegate multiple tasks of high importance.
- Strong leadership skills, adaptive leadership style, and business acumen.
- Excellent active listening, communication, and presentation skills.
- Ability to lead, teach, and influence others to develop successful managers.
