Job Title
Qualifications: Current Alabama Teacher's Certification, Bachelor's Degree or higher in ESL, Foreign Language, English, or Elementary Education Preference will be given to applicants with at least three years successful teaching experience Preferred background experience in Bilingual Education, Linguistics, or Teaching English as a Second Language Preference will be given to applicants fluent in Korean or Spanish as well as applicants with reading, speech pathology, or special education backgrounds Strong oral and written communication skills Essential Duties: Assist schools in providing instructional support for English Learners (EL) grades K-12 (includes testing, serving on ESL team to develop instructional plans, and providing information for district/state/federal reports) Provide ESL instruction to classes, small groups, and individual students Provide support and training for content area teachers of ELs in assigned schools Facilitate contacts and interactions between the student's home and the school Participate in monthly training/planning sessions with other EL teachers Establish a positive relationship with students, parents, co-workers, volunteers, and other visitors
